Introducing Dashwave Public Beta! Hello, I am Supratik Das, Co-founder, and CTO at Dashwave. I am thrilled to announce the launch of Dashwave, a powerful cloud build and emulation tool for fast and collaborative Android development. It supports all major Android languages/frameworks: Java, Kotlin, React Native and Flutter. Why Dashwave? - The Problem Android developers often struggle with insanely long build times and resource-intensive emulation sessions. They work in close collaboration with product stakeholders and rely on WIP feedback. Since builds, and feedback are slow, this leads…

Hey HN, Inspired by the classic "Compiling" XKCD comic (https://3d.xkcd.com/303/), I’ve built CodeAir (codeair.app) – an Android app and VS Code extension that turns your phone into a remote control for VS Code. With CodeAir, you can: - Control 800+ VS Code commands right from your phone. - Send text and image files directly into your workspace and even have the images transcribed using AI. So imagine taking a snapshot of a piece of code from a physical textbook and being directly able to run that inside VS Code. - Request screenshots from VS Code while AFK and get them…

Hi HN! So this all started out as an experiment. I wanted to test the Golang gomobile library to build a small app on Android in Go. And it turned out to be a game, and harder than I thought... After a lot of work and many gotchas (and a lot of moments where I was about to give up and started to squint on Unity) I finally manage to create a working game for Android with Go. The game is quite simple and if it wasn't for being written in OpenGL/OpenAL from scratch it would be quite simple to make it in Unity or any other game engine for that matter. Another goal of my project was actually…

I've been working on an open source Android SDK that supports OpenTelemetry export. I'm excited about this as observability SDKs have traditionally used proprietary schemas that make it hard to export & analyse production data. Would be great to hear any feedback/comments folks might have! Here's the Android SDK: https://github.com/embrace-io/embrace-android-sdk There is also an iOS SDK, but I've been less directly involved in that: https://github.com/embrace-io/embrace-apple-sdk
