24 alternatives to Choosing the right SaaS is a chore, so I built something to fix that

This was supposed to be a fun side project, didn't expect much from it. But it turned out much funnier and much more useful than expected. So here it goes. I just listed all the software tools that I'm using at my startup. You can get actual advice on how to consolidate, save money, or find tools that are more popular at the moment. It's like a mean but legitimate SaaS consultant. Observations from building this: Gemini 2.5 pro is actually funny. Like, the jokes can be surprising and witty. This is the first model I came along that can actually write funny text.

Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Choosing the right SaaS is a chore, so I built something to fix that launched in 2024; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

Promptly is my first SaaS Project. I built it because I wanted to refine my dev skills and also to have a central place to store my prompts for GPT, Midjourney, and other AI platform and systems. Would love some feedback on the website itself, as well as advice on how I should go about the marketing

Hey HN, I’m Kyrylo. I recently created a small tool that lets you gather, refine, and validate SaaS/startup ideas using AI. I used to jot down my product ideas in a note apps, but it wasn’t very practical for collecting feedback or refining them. So, I built this tool to make the process easier. Here’s how it works: 1. Enter a brief description of your idea. 2. The app uses AI to generate project details. 3. Share your idea via a link that includes a feedback form. It’s pretty straightforward, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or any suggestions!

Hey HN! Thank you for all the support and feedback on my original submission 2 months ago. I've been improving the backend using a MCTS/AlphaZero approach and it's currently producing much better results. My long term goal is to allow users to manage multiple projects, deployed autonomously, both from scratch and by making continual updates all prompted with natural language. The cost of each project has been lowered to $9 as performance with smaller models has improved (I migrated from Claude-3-Opus to gemini-1.5-flash). Thanks for checking it out!

Hey HN, I kept seeing the same question asked over and over in startup communities: "What tech stack should I use for my SaaS?" The answers were always scattered, opinionated, and never accounted for budget or team size. So I built appstackbuilder.com — you tell it your monthly budget, app type, team size, and skill level, and it recommends a full stack (auth, database, hosting, payments, analytics, etc.) with actual pricing for each tool. A few things that make it different from generic advice: - It accounts for team size when calculating costs (e.g. Clerk charges per user, Linear charges…

Hey, just wanted to share with you guys and app that I built and deployed in a day with Lovable. So, as a founder I always wanted to have an advisor but my budget would always be less, then on the other hand hand I had Paul's essays on Startup Advice, which I never read because I was busy building stuff. Hence, I built this product which comes into a sweet spot of both at the same time being more reasonable and capable than the alternative. ps: it's running on a reasoning model and tbh I've been able to gather pretty good insights from it. Note to PG: If you're seeing this. I'm your big fan.…

I've noticed I kept doing the same things over and over again while building SaaS apps from scratch. So I thought, why not streamline the process? I launched a super flexible SaaS Starter Kit, CODEPILOT, that can be used for all sorts of SaaS building. My goal is to ensure I am are on the right track when it comes to technology, customizability, developer experience, and maintenance. It's built with the latest frameworks to ensure that your application is fast, secure, and scalable. I hope this boilerplate will help you as it helped me! Enis.

I'm documenting everything about my process. From learning to code, to building the app, and all the way to my outreach efforts. I'm learning as I go and sharing it with everyone who's not a programer, and is daunted to build a software on their own. Trust me. If I can do it, anyone can! I'm a solo dev in Taiwan. I built 4 AI agents that handle content, sales leads, security scanning, and ops for my tech agency — all on Gemini 2.5 Flash free tier (1,500 req/day). I use ~105. Monthly LLM cost: $0. Architecture: 4 agents on OpenClaw (open source), running on WSL2 at home with 25 systemd timers. What they do every day: - Generate 8 social posts across platforms (quality-gated: generate → self-review → rewrite if score < 7/10) - Engage with community posts and auto-reply to comments (context-aware, max 2 rounds) - Research via RSS + HN API + Jina Reader → feed…

Hey HN I’m Daniel, a fullstack developer from Sydney Australia and founder at Saas Ninja (https://saasninja.io/). Saas Ninja provides a suite of simple tools/APIs on a monthly subscription basis that help Product Teams sell, monitor and develop their Saas Products. The idea for Saas Ninja came during my last employment contract working for a startup. We needed a number of monitoring tools for our product and each provider I researched was often over-complicated for what we wanted and was priced more towards a monitoring connoisseur than a startup developer. With looming…

After a month of diving into Next.js for the first time, I built a cool app that helps SaaS founders connect with users, tweak their offerings, and boost revenue. You can easily add feedback forms to your website to gather and analyze customer feedback whenever you want. It has a 30-second setup, requires no coding, and is compatible with WordPress, etc. Tell me, guys, what do you think, knowing I'm just a beginner?

It's an AI-native product analytics tool that automates product growth insights with generative / predictive / explainable AI. No dashboards or time-consuming analytics (or skills) needed. Would love any feedback for the tool. Also looking for a handful of early adopters atm. Cheers, -Toni

Hi HN, I built SubTrack to help teams find unused SaaS tools and cloud resources before they silently eat into budgets. The motivation came from seeing how hard it is to answer simple questions: – Which SaaS tools are actually used? – Which cloud resources are idle? – What will our end-of-month spend look like? SubTrack connects to tools like AWS, GitHub, Vercel, and others to surface unused resources and cost signals from one place. Recently I added multi-account support, currency localization, and optional AI-based insights to help interpret usage patterns. This is an early-stage project…

I’ve been studying real-world SaaS ideas — some that took off, others that failed hard. I turned it into a small side project: StartUp or Flop? You get two real startup ideas. One became successful, the other didn’t. You guess which is which, then you get the actual answer plus a short explanation of what made it work (or not). It’s a lightweight way to learn from real startup outcomes, uncover the patterns behind success and failure, sharpen your product instinct — and maybe even confront some of your own startup biases along the way. It’s surprising, humbling, and kind of addictive. Would…

Hey HN! I'm an indie hacker who builds SAAS products in my free time. I've got a friend who runs a small consulting firm and said this would be a useful tool for them so i thought why not release it as a standalone online tool for everyone. Basically the premise is, you enter some information about your services (or we just scrape your website and figure it out). Then you enter a description of the client brief, tweak the outline, and out comes a unique tailored proposal that you can tweak with AI. That's pretty much it! Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

A little history first. Back in Jan 2011 I quit my day job after saving up my $ for a year and began my first startup, a hardware + SaaS business. It was exciting and at the end of 14 months I had a handful of customers but not enough incoming to keep me going so I went back into the workforce full time, running it on the side. Naturally my time is pretty limited. Users kept signing up and I had to constantly print and post them unique welcome forms, direct debit forms, post out monthly invoices etc, the list goes on. The paperwork alone took me hours. I'd have just coded up each form into a…

As a product manager I've used different feedback tools and almost never liked the design and experience of the widget. And pricing of some existing tools is just way too high, at least for indie makers or small businesses ($35 for 100 responses...). That's why I've launched Freddy Feedback (today!). You can find it on www.freddyfeedback.com. Curious to hear your feedback (very meta ;-)).

Hi HN, I'm a full-time remote developer, and in my free time, I'm constantly building micro-SaaS and tools. I love Astro for its performance and DX, but I noticed a huge friction point: every time I started a new project, I was wasting hours just wiring up the same boilerplate environment—configuring the framework, integrating Tailwind CSS, setting up SEO tags, and structuring components. That initial setup friction is a momentum killer for shipping fast. To solve this for myself and speed up my own workflow, I packaged my ideal stack into AstroKit. To be fully transparent: this is a paid…
