I built a pool-based proxy that hacks Claude Code's pricing tiers. To actually use Claude Code you need Max at $200/mo, and then most of that capacity sits idle anyway. So ClawPool lets subscribers pool their OAuth tokens and earn up to $120/mo from the spare capacity. Everyone else gets Opus, Sonnet, all models for $8/mo. Anthropic announced today that starting June 15, paid Claude plans get a separate monthly credit pool for programmatic usage (claude -p, Agent SDK). Seems OK at first glance but it turns out the monthly credit pool is charged at API rates, which effectively kills any serious programmatic usage for hobbyists. Built this after realizing I was spending ~$1400/week on Claude Code with almost no visibility into what was actually consuming tokens. Tools like ccusage give a cost breakdown per model and per day, but I wanted to understand usage at the task level. CodeBurn reads the JSONL session transcripts that Claude Code stores locally (~/.claude/projects/) and classifies each turn into 13 categories based on tool usage patterns (no LLM calls involved). Some technical context on what we ran into building this. MCP tools don't really work for financial data at scale. One tool call for five years of daily prices dumps tens of thousands of tokens into the context window. And data vendors pack dozens of tools into a single MCP server, schemas alone can eat 50k+ tokens before the agent does anything useful. So we auto-generate typed Python modules from the MCP schemas at workspace init and upload them into the sandbox. The agent just imports them like a normal library. Hey HN, Claude Code is pretty agentic now. It writes scripts, calls APIs, uses CLIs. But when something requires actually clicking through a website, it stops and asks me to do it. Problem is, I'm often unfamiliar with these platforms myself. "Go to App Store Connect and generate a P8 key" okay but where? I end up spending 10 minutes navigating menus I've never seen before. I've been working on this Claude Code pipeline for making 10-minute movies, gluing together Seedance (videogen), Nano Banana (image gen), and ElevenLabs (voice gen), and using Claude as the director. My repo contributes a markdown playbook and a worked example which should make it easier for other people to make their own short movies. A first-pass movie takes around 2.5 hours of wall clock time and costs around $200, and iterating is easy thanks to intermediate artifacts like storyboards and voice samples.
