24 alternatives to Cocommit – A copilot for git commit
I've built a lightweight copilot that integrates with Git commits, leveraging LangChain to support multiple LLM providers. I currently use it with Claude 3.7 (via Bedrock) and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, but I’d love to see how it performs with other LLMs. If you have access to any LangChain-supported LLMs, I’d really appreciate a quick test! Your feedback via GitHub Issues would be invaluable in improving the project. Thanks in advance!

diny▲175Hi everyone, I built a CLI tool called *diny* that generates Git commit messages directly from your staged changes. - It runs `git diff` and filters out noise like lockfiles, build artifacts, and binaries. - From the cleaned diff it suggests a clear commit message. - You can confirm or refine the message before committing. Key points: - No setup or API keys required. - Lightweight, local-first workflow. - Supports different lengths and styles (short, normal, long; conventional or simple). - Built in Go with Cobra for a familiar CLI experience. Repo:…

I've always wanted a better way to explore the authorship data embedded in a Git commit log. I'm having fun building a CLI tool to do this. It's a bit like the "Contributors" tab on Github that shows you how many commits each contributor has made but much faster and with many more options. If you get a chance to try it out, please let me know. I'd love to hear feedback and suggestions. Thank you!

Hey HN OpenCopilot is an OSS framework which helps devs to build open-source AI Copilots that actually work and embed into their product with ease. Why another LLM framework? Twitter is full of impressive LLM applications but once you peel off the curtains it’s clear that they are just demos. The reason being because building an AI Copilot that goes beyond a Twitter demo can be complex, time-consuming and unreliable. Our team has been in the AI space since 2018 and built numerous LLM apps & copilots. While doing that, we got approached by many startups saying they’d also like to build a…

Hi HN, I spent my easter weekend stuck in the house with COVID and I decided to play with llama.cpp [1] and fauxpilot [2] to see if I could get LLM code assist working on pure CPU. As a proof of concept I'd say I've proven that it's possible. However there's still a lot to do. The auto complete is quite slow at the moment. PRs welcome. GAC is a tool I built to help users spend less time summing up what was done and more time building. It uses LLMs to generate contextual git commit messages from your code changes. And it can be a drop-in replacement for `git commit -m "..."`. Example: feat(auth): add OAuth2 integration with GitHub and Google - Implement OAuth2 authentication flow - Add provider configuration for GitHub and Google - Create callback handler for token exchange - Update login UI with social auth buttons Don't like it? Reroll with 'r', or type `r "focus on xyz"` and it rerolls the commit with your feedback. You…

G'day, HN! I'm one of the maintainers of `llm`. I've been working alongside a trusty group of contributors to bring this project to life, and we're now at a point where we're ready to share it with the world. Large language models (LLMs) are taking the computing world by storm due to their emergent abilities that allow them to perform a wide variety of tasks, including translation, summarization, code generation, and even some degree of reasoning. However, the ecosystem around LLMs is still in its infancy, and it can be difficult to get started with these models. `llm` is a one-stop shop for…

When working on data science projects I often want to just save my work, without having to think deeply about what’s changed. I found the intentionality of Git to feel like friction in these times, and I built GitEase to simplify my workflow. Instead of having to think about add/commit/push/pull with GitEase I just think about `ge load, ge save, ge share, ge undo`. And for even less thinking, I use an LLM (text-da-vinci-003) to generate commit messages by summarizing the diff. Take a look, try it out, and I’d welcome any contributions & feedback. pip install gitease $ ge —help…

Current AI-assisted CLI tools are often part of larger systems and work better on Linux. I built llm-term to address these. It's a Rust-based tool that compiles into a single binary file. You only need to download the binary, add it to your PATH, and configure your OpenAI key to get started. While llm-term offers an option for gpt-4o, it works great with gpt-4o-mini. So it's not costly. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

I recently built a small open-source tool to benchmark different LLM API endpoints — including OpenAI, Claude, and self-hosted models (like llama.cpp). It runs a configurable number of test requests and reports two key metrics: • First-token latency (ms): How long it takes for the first token to appear • Output speed (tokens/sec): Overall output fluency Demo: https://llmapitest.com/ Code: https://github.com/qjr87/llm-api-test The goal is to provide a simple, visual, and reproducible way to evaluate performance across different LLM providers, including…

VibeGit▲18I built VibeGit to eliminate the friction of organizing large, interwoven diffs after long development sessions. The CLI command vibegit commit invokes an LLM (Gemini 2.5 Flash by default, GPT-4o and others supported) to examine each hunk, group semantically related changes across files, and produce a sequence of logical, stylistically consistent commits with clear messages. The workflow is configurable—fully automatic, interactive review, or summary-only—and requires only Python 3.11+. MIT-licensed; feedback and contributions are welcome.

Serie is a TUI application that uses the terminal emulators' image display protocol to render commit graphs like git log --graph --all. This is not a full-featured git client, nor are there any plans to add such functionality, so it is not a replacement for tig, lazygit, gitui, etc. The only purpose of this tool is to provide a pretty git log --graph and make commit information easily accessible. While some users prefer to use Git via CLI, they often rely on a GUI or feature-rich TUI to view commit logs. Others may find git log --graph sufficient. Personally, I found the output from git log…

This is a small plugin for Simon Willison’s llm utility. It uses staged Git changes and generates a commit message using a LLM. You can do things like: git add . # Stage your changes llm commit # Automatically generate a commit message from the staged diff llm commit --model gpt-4 --max-tokens 150 --temperature 0.8 --yes # Customize model settings (e.g., GPT-4) or skip confirmation
