Products that do what Compare long Covid treatments using peer-reviewed evidence does

Hi HN! Disclaimer: A blog post[0] on this topic ended up on HN's front page recently (which had a link to GlacierMD) but I'd already written this whole "Show HN" spiel so I figured I'd submit it anyway. Hopefully this doesn't come across as too spammy! (The previous post was really more about the problem, not my proposed solution.) Anyway, thanks for checking out GlacierMD—a consumer health tool I've been hacking on for the last few months. I chose long COVID as the first condition because (sadly) lots of people have it[1] and the research is changing rapidly[2]. Unlike other health…

Hi HN, I wanted to share with you a project we've been working on intensely over the last couple weeks to respond to the COVID crisis in France: https://icubam.net. It is a simple SMS-distributed form to collect ICU availability information directly from doctors as the standard reporting routes were too complex and becoming stale. We are currently collecting near real-time bed availability information from over 250 doctors, 115 ICUs and helping manage >2000 ICU beds. Our experience is that this type of software can be a life-saver for quickly finding beds to transfer patients to…

Hi HN, I ve been in this community for a while now and have a huge amount of respect for the people and the forum so I wanted to post this here. This is a pretty random one and I wish to emphasise from the very beginning this is not medical advice and is only based on what I saw in myself. It is therefore entirely up to anyone kind enough to have a read to decide whether they think what I describe makes any sense for them. If people have comments or thoughts I think it would be quite cool to use the GitHub issues as a forum for discussion and collecting peoples’ feedback. TLDR When I was…

Hello everyone, My son loves Hacker News, so I am using his account. I love innovation and technology. With the restrictions due to Coronavirus from practicing in my clinic. I created a system that replaces the air in my office in 20 seconds. Those vacuums are also filled with UV-rods inside to kill any viruses. The air is release below the office in a 2-3 foot basement, which is also filled with UV rods. https://youtu.be/UfYt1w156QA https://youtu.be/UpO8WXOlgcQ (side-by-side) Given how much my son enjoys Hacker News I thought you would all enjoy it. 4 months ago, our announcement for our free, multi-node, petabyte-scale time-series database generated 200+ comments: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23272992 Many commented on the Timescale License, our source-available license governing advanced features (eg multi-node). Most were positive, but some pointed out drawbacks (who says HN can't be productive!). That spurred an internal debate. Today we're happy to share an updated Timescale License with new rights, including the "right-to-repair" and "right-to-improve." And we’re doubling-down on our community, making all…

I scraped every Show HN from the last 12 months (41,301 posts) plus the full comment tree of every launch with 10+ comments, ~100k comment timestamps, all from the Algolia HN API. The median launch gets 2 points and 0 comments. For launches that do get traction, half the comments they'll ever get arrive within 7.2 hours and 90% within 26, and the top decile decays on the same clock as everyone else. Vote timestamps aren't public, so comment timing is the attention proxy; caveats are in the post. Everything reproduces from the repo with one command…

Input a SMILES string (or pick one molecule from the examples) and it returns up to 100k molecules closest in 3-D shape or electrostatic similarity – from 10+ billion scale databases — typically in under 5-10 s. *Why it might interest HN* * Entire index lives on disk — no GPU at query-time, less than ~10 GB RAM total. * Built from scratch (no FAISS index / Milvus / Pinecone). * Index-build cost: one Nvidia T4 (~ 300USD) for one 5.5B database. * Open to anyone, predict ADMET, export results as CSV/SDF. Full write-up & benchmarks (DUD-E, LIT-PCBA, SVS) in the pre-print:…
