I'm a software engineer who keeps getting pulled into DevOps no matter how hard I try to escape it. I recently moved into a Lead DevOps Engineer role writing tooling to automate a lot of the pain away. On my own time outside of work, I built Artifact Keeper — a self-hosted artifact registry that supports 45+ package formats. Security scanning, SSO, replication, WASM plugins — it's all in the MIT-licensed release. No enterprise tier. No feature gates. No surprise invoices. Your package managers — pip, npm, docker, cargo, helm, go, all of them — talk directly to it using their native…

Hey folks, I'm Ben from Armory.io (YC W17). We just launched Continuous Deployment-as-a-Service (CDaaS) to make it easy for developers to deploy their apps safely to the cloud. We’d greatly appreciate (raw, candid) feedback from the HN community if this solution improves the speed at which you deploy to production. We have a free-forever tier that gives you up to 25 Application Targets[1] (our unit of scale for pricing). Try it here: https://www.armory.io/products/continuous-deployment-as-a-se... Hello! This is Edgar and Robbie and we built nix-snapshotter. nix-snapshotter brings native understanding of Nix packages to containerd. We built this because Nix is a great fit for making efficient containers. They don't need an OS because Nix captures all dependencies exactly. However, the current process of creating Nix images is subpar because one needs to transform Nix packages into a format that container runtimes understand. Using nix-snapshotter, instead of downloading image layers, packages come directly from the Nix store. Packages can be fetched from a binary cache or built on the…

Hi, we are a small team from Vienna and today released our first version of a Package Manager similar to apt, Homebrew, or Chocolatey, but specifically tailored for Kubernetes environments and cloud-native software. Originally, we wanted to contribute to the Kubernetes ecosystem with a different idea; however, after talking to the community, we uncovered that package management is an even bigger problem at the moment. We are now looking for as much feedback as possible, so we would really appreciate it if you could check it out and let us know what you think! Thanks!
