Products that do what Cook for Mom does

Site: https://cookformom.com Source: https://github.com/anulman/cook-for-mom Creator here . I've been working on a free, six-week, online cooking class to help beginner and novice chefs build skills, toward the goal of preparing a 3-course gourmet meal guaranteed to impress mom for Mother's Day. I appreciate that landing pages are generally frowned upon as Show HNs; if you feel compelled to downvote, I understand. While I'm certainly hoping to recruit some cooks among us, I wanted to share this project because I want your feedback on this as a conversion tool,…

I created https://foundermeals.com as a weekend project, and as part of an internal competition we do at http://www.freshform.com I love the concept, and I'll be ecstatic if the project is funded and can move forward. But I'm curious if I'm focusing too much on my own insane hunt to find the simplest way to cook, or if that appeals to others. Most people I've told about this respond with, "You're kinda analytical, huh?" or "You think people would pay for that?" or even "...." The thing is, I'm not trying to sell recipes, I'm trying to sell convenience, and I'm not sure I've communicated that…

I am happy to announce the updated release of my web app, 7courses. http://7courses.com/ 7courses makes it ridiculously easy to jot down and manage your collection of recipes. As someone who cooks, I often find recipes online or in cookbooks, but have no way to organize them. I have been looking for a digital "recipe box". After plenty of searching I just made my own. 7courses was built around the idea that you should be able to choose how you want to organize your recipes, and doing so should be easy and quick. The UI is responsive and intuitive, with a no frills design. Just jump right in…

Hello HN, Over the last 12 months, I have been building https://learnawesome.org This idea came from Danny Hillis' 2012 talk at OSCON, which itself was inspired from Neal Stepehenson's _The Diamond Age : A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer_ The dream is to build a tool that matches the right learning material to the right student at the right time. Wikipedia is great, but it doesn't do a good job of leveraging the rich variety of learning resources that exist on the Web. Same applies to GoodReads - which is focused only on books, whereas these days we actually learn from videos,…

Hi hn! It has always annoyed me that recipe websites are so cluttered and have so much (in my opinion) useless fluff, so I made a little website to solve that problem! One good thing about SEO for once is that Google has pretty much forced the internet to adopt JSON-LD for recipes so many recipes are directly extractable and for others I have several fall back parsers including an indieweb parser :) If you do find a website that is broken feel free to click the flag button or share it as I would love to fix any edge cases

http://cheergram.com Hey there everyone. I have been reading HN a bit here sans there but haven't ever submitted/commented before. (I am a stay at home mom) Anyway I had this idea a while back and had my husband help me build it. I tried to do most of the designs, though some are stock vectors. Anyway I'd love your feedback on anything that will help this business grow. Thanks so much.

This is my MVP. It's not quite really ready to unleash, but what the heck. http://cilantrosites.com SHORT PITCH: About.me for restaurants LONGER PITCH: Single-page websites for restaurants that don't suck. Instant setup. Hours, map, menu, contact/social, email list, mobile version. No Flash. No PDFs. KNOWN ISSUES: (a) can add menu items but not edit/del. (b) additional settings (mainly domain mapping) are turned off (c) if you're editing colors, make sure to scroll to the top of the page, (d) many others FEEDBACK WELCOME: I have tough skin. Also, I know much of the design is average. I have…

If you guys are interested in high-quality food products please let me know what you think of my website prototype. 1)Do you understand immediately what the site is about? 2)Is it easy enough to understand how it works? 3)If ready to roll in your neighborhood would you be interested in subscribing to a service like this? I am in the process of getting a closed-beta off the ground in Brooklyn and I am really interested in all kinds of feedback about the idea, the design, UX. Thanks. http://www.the-local-kitchen.com

I'm nearing the finish line on a side-project that has taken me longer than I care to admit. I'd really like to get some feedback from you guys if you would: http://recikeep.com The site is centered around a bookmarklet with some extra server-side processing. You "recikeep" a recipe and the ingredients are all parsed out into Qty/Measure/Ingredient/Prep (as best as I can), and then you build menus from what you have kept. Since the ingredients are parsed out, I can generate a shopping list from your menu that's a combination of all of the ingredients across the recipes. Any feedback would be…

Awhile back I launched http://7courses.com on here to get some preliminary feedback. The reception was positive, but there were a few issues that had to be addressed. Mainly, the font, and the lack of a normal user system (limited to openID logins). This has been changed, along with a whole ton of other features which may or may not be immediately apparent. Either way, I think this project has come a long way, and hope you can find some use from it. http://7courses.com http://twitter.com/7courses 7courses is a central place where you can store and collect all your recipes. Say goodbye to…

Hello everyone, I created a EasyCook app, this app will generate food recipes based on your ingredients. The idea is not to waste food, and if you have left some ingredients in the Kitchen, you can write it down in app and get a recipe based on these ingredients. The app is free to use, however have more features available for paid users. Would be thankful for feedback, so I can improve the app more!

It's a simple app where you submit a URL for feedback, then for every piece of feedback you give to someone else's, you get to read one piece of feedback for yours. http://karmurl.com

This past weekend at Startup Weekend MKE, a great team of people and I worked on a networking website that focuses on women entrepreneurs. The website is meant to serve as a way for women entrepreneurs to connect, get advice from others, and see events posted in their area. It is not exclusively for women, but the idea is to help decrease the gender gap in the startup community. Please check out our website and sign up if you are interested.(www.goconnectgrow.co) Abby

Hey HN! I've just launched CookThis, my new app that helps fight food waste by using up leftover ingredients. It uses ML in a couple of ways to aid this, both by using a CNN to detect ingredients from a camera feed, and by using an LLM to generate new recipes. Would be great to get some feedback! There's a week free trial available with no commitment

Friends, Romans, HNers! Link: http://hackerbyte.com This is my first “weekend project” and it was really fun doing it. The sleepless weekends nights when all my friends were our partying or something we (me and two friends) were busy creating ‘hackerByte’ - a weekly newsletter to share inspiration with start-up people. Nothing fancy - just we’d like to share some really nice stuff we read and some news with you, every week. We know that newsletters like these already exist so why one more? Because we are not really satisfied with what they are doing and here is our version of the wheel. We…
