Hello everyone, there are many log services available and this is my attempt at a better one. Most online logging tools feature convoluted UIs, arbitrary mandatory fields, questionable AI/insights, complex pricing, etc. I hope my application fixes most of these issues. It also has some nice features, such as automatic Geo IP checks and public dashboards. Although I've created lots of software, this is my first open source application (MIT license), the tutorial for selfhosting is hopefully sufficient! Most of my development career has been with C#, NodeJS and PHP. For this project I've…

Hello all! I built Glintlog because I wanted a simple way to aggregate logs without spinning up Elasticsearch, Loki, or a SaaS that costs my kidney… What it is: A self-hosted log aggregation tool that runs as a single binary. No Docker, no dependencies, no config files required. How it works: ``` curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ibero-data/glintlog/main/s... | bash ``` That's it. Open localhost:8080 and you have a log viewer with search, filtering, and live tail. Tech: - Go backend with embedded DuckDB for storage - Native OTLP support (gRPC on 4317,…

Hey HN, we’re Nico and Arseniy, co-founders of Superlog (https://superlog.sh). We're building a self-installing, self healing observability tool meant not to be opened. It has a wizard that daily sets up proper logging and an agent that investigates errors and opens PRs. Super short demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFhU9Mk247M. In our earlier startups, we tried Sentry, Datadog, Grafana, Dash0, and nothing was good enough. Proper telemetry and alerting still requires a ton of manual setup. We struggled with adding good logs, so debugging was tough, especially as…

Hey HN! I’m Karan, creator of Logchef (https://logchef.app), an open-source log viewer built specifically for exploring logs stored in ClickHouse. This tool grew directly out of my $day job managing massive log volumes. Like many orgs, we migrated our log workloads to ClickHouse for its performance, but found the ecosystem lacked dedicated UI tooling for actually browsing and analyzing those logs effectively. We were using Metabase, and while great for general BI, it wasn't designed for log exploration workflows. Common pain points included: - Clunky Ad-hoc Querying:…

Hey Hackers, I was building multiple projects lately, and integrating logging was way too much for me. Managing self hosted ELK stack, or using existing log monitoring services (running their agent was consuming hell of resources on my tiny servers). It took me a day to code my own logging server, and client for python projects (serving as python packages - pypi), named it HueLogs. Sharing with you all, please feel free to contribute if you like. I might be adding a npm package for javascript client if I get chance to code tomorrow. Few features too add: - 30 min, last day logs etc. -…
