Hello, HN! Figure is a little side project I’ve been working on. Someone described it as Bejeweled meets Wordle. I built the puzzle interface and website in Next.js and React, which was a first for me and overall a great learning experience. The daily puzzle data is queued up in a PostgreSQL table. Another table stores anonymous solve stats. Once a day, a cron job hits a serverless API that promotes the next puzzle as “live” and prompts Next.js to update the prebaked static site with the new data. The game state is managed with Redux and your stats are persisted to localStorage. Framer…

Hi everyone! Graphs is the intersection of data visualization and the daily web puzzle genre (Wordle, NYT Mini Crossword, Connections, etc.). Every day, you are given a nameless graph and 5 options to select the right dataset it is representing. Upon winning, you can access the underlying dataset and other info + maintain a streak and stats. It's super simple - check out today's chart and you should be able to get the gist quickly. My email + twitter account (@graphsgame) is on the page, would love a feedback or a follow. Don't hesitate to reach out!

Hi HN, I was late to wordle, so I am also late to making my own version. In Spindle, you rotate words on a grid with the aim of assembling the day’s target word. I enjoy it, so I thought some of you might enjoy it too. From a tech perspective, it’s a very simple Laravel / Livewire app. My happy place in recent years has been Typescript and SvelteKit, so this was a bit of an adjustment, but it allowed me to take advantage of an existing shared hosting server meaning no additional financial outlay. Happy to report a positive experience with PHP and this framework, although I do miss…

Hey HN I built this simple app that grabs four popular tweets from the last 24 hours and removes a word from each, so that the missing words spell out a phrase. It's the player's job to guess the missing words. A key motive for building this was that, to be honest, I was finding much of the news and social media dialogue quite depressing. I thought that if a wholesome or inspirational phrase can be built out of these (often tiresome) tweets, then there would be something nice about that. The stack included GCloud scheduler (for daily Tweet scraping and automatic puzzle generation), Supabase…

Hello HN! I'm a big fan of Wordle and I originally got this idea from seeing people gripe about Wordle suddenly being "harder" than usual. Wondering if this was true, I set out to snoop around the NYT's publicly available data, which gave me some pretty cool insights. I've put some of them on this simple site made with React and Claude. There's a grand total of 7 visualizations, with some fun little touches here and there. My favorite is probably "Clairvoyant Guesses," which shows some (to put it nicely) suspicious day-to-day guessing patterns. There's also a fun little easter egg when you…

How to play: 1. You're given a set of letters (such as "ZXCVBNM") 2. Come up with two words that use all the letters (like "convex zombie") 3. The shorter the words, the better!

One station to find per day, 2 or 3 gamemodes depending on the city (if your city is not live yet, or you can't find it in the selector, try https://dailymetro.live/cityname/mode/classic ) Like https://dailymetro.live/sf/mode/classic for San Francisco Got huge traction in France, so I thought maybe you'll like it here too :) Made with Claude code but still took at least 50-100h of dev/design/taking user feedbacks ahahah Hope you like it

DailyPings (https://dailypings.com) is a HN-inspired platform where makers share their daily progress. Key features: - Three posts per day limit to encourage quality updates - HN-style upvote system - No comments, just pure progress sharing - Email verification Tech stack: - Next.js 15 App Router - TypeScript - Prisma ORM - PostgreSQL - NextAuth.js - Tailwind CSS - Geist Mono font - Deployed on Coolify The idea came from wanting a distraction-free space for makers to share their daily progress, similar to how HN works for tech news. The three posts per day limit is intentional - it…

This is my first web app, so there are bound be to be a few kinks that need to be worked out. That's why it's here, in hopes that some of the awesome people I read about on HN can take a minute to offer some criticism. http://dailydo.it/ DailyDo.it is meant to replace the canonical to-do list with a do-it list – a list of things that you will actually do. My monetization plan is based on team do-it lists, where you can see your teammates' do-it lists and assign them tasks, while keeping the individual do-it lists totally free. Please let me know if you find any bugs, what the pain points…
