Credyt▲100Hey HN! I'm the founder of Credyt (https://credyt.ai). If you're running an AI product that burns $0.50+ per interaction, you need to bill customers as usage happens, not at the end of the month. Otherwise you're a bank for your customers, and you'll run out of money before they do. Why invoice-based billing doesn't work for AI: Most usage-based billing tools (Stripe Billing, Orb, etc.) were built for SaaS. They meter usage all month, then send an invoice. That works fine when your COGS is 5%. It's a disaster when you're paying your AI vendor upfront for every request and your…

Hey HN, I’am Koshima, co-founder of Flexprice (https://flexprice.io/). Flexprice is an open source monetization platform for AI & Agentic companies. You can build usage-based, credit-based, or hybrid pricing models with full control. Usage-based billing works on paper, but breaks fast in production: (1) High-volume data (e.g., 10k API calls/sec from AI inferences) breaks naive pipelines, dropping events and causing underbilling or customer complaints. (2) Backfilling missing events or retroactive discounts screws up invoices, forcing 3 AM log stitching to avoid revenue…

I code on Claude's pay as you go API and started budgeting my token usage with my own CLI wrapper. Basically I set a budget for a task that I'm working on in my project: Task: "Fix mobile responsiveness" Budget: $3.00 and the budget updates after each prompt: Task: "Fix mobile responsiveness" Budget: $2.34 / $3.00 78% It helps keep an eye on my spending when working on projects.

I'm a solo dev in Taiwan. I built 4 AI agents that handle content, sales leads, security scanning, and ops for my tech agency — all on Gemini 2.5 Flash free tier (1,500 req/day). I use ~105. Monthly LLM cost: $0. Architecture: 4 agents on OpenClaw (open source), running on WSL2 at home with 25 systemd timers. What they do every day: - Generate 8 social posts across platforms (quality-gated: generate → self-review → rewrite if score < 7/10) - Engage with community posts and auto-reply to comments (context-aware, max 2 rounds) - Research via RSS + HN API + Jina Reader → feed…

The only reason this exists is because AI coding turns intrusive thoughts into product launches overnight. In reality, this was a good toy project to test out Cloudflare's platform. I've traditionally used AWS / Netlify / and a few others. Cloudflare was pretty easy to set up and they offer at-cost .ai domains. $140 for 2 years... painful for Nanna, but hey, boosts that valuation multiple by at least 2x. I'll probably use this as a project to experiment with some other things, like some of the new payments / billing startups being built for AI-specific use cases.
