Products that do what Dbctx – Compile a PostgreSQL database into compact, queryable context does
Hi HN, I've been finding increasing need for helping our users chat with the underlying application data in postgresql directly using LLMs, visualize results and so on. A major obstacle to this is -- traditional sql schema doesn't contain enough information for an LLM to easily query things in one shot. For example, traditional schema doesn't say what is the expected/allowed value set in a state field, or what are the paths available embedded in a jsonb field. Also -- given a user query -- only a small fraction of the whole schema is relevant for an LLM to construct SQL queries. So…

Hi HN, we're Eric and Dean, creators of SchemafreeSQL. Its roots go back to an on-line Web App Development Environment we developed back in 1999. It was comprised of an IDE, Web Server, Object Store, Virtual File System, Template System, and polyglot (Java, JavaScript, and Python). Of course, we named it “.OS”. Then we ended up dropping it. But that's a story for another time. It was the ease of use of the Object Store from .OS that we really missed, which brings us back to SchemafreeSQL. It provides an enhanced API to your SQL Database which allows it to function as a Schemaless…

Hey Everyone, I built https://querysimple.com, its a tool that allows you to transform data directly in the PostgreSQL with just SQL skills. - Creation of tables - Data syncs - Error and status reporting - Scheduling queries All of this is taken care by the application. You just write your select SQL queries. I would love some feedback from the community on the tool. You can watch a video demo, there is no need to signup. Of course, if you want to signup and give it a try that would be great!

Github: https://github.com/betocmn/widen I was paying for DataGrip for several years as my desktop database GUI but if I wanted text-to-SQL with LLMs I'd have to pay even more on top. So I decided to build my own and I've been using it for a few weeks now. At any time I'm usually working with 3 to 6 databases, and having them set up in something like Conductor (for parallel agentic coding), but for Postgres databases, lets me quickly start a session, ask questions to my database in plain English, get a data export, move on and close the session. It's been working well and…

I wanted to brush up my SQL skills and was looking for an online course that included a live DB. Most PostgreSQL courses require you to create an account or pay. This is probably because they have to bear the costs of running a full server-side database. So I created learnpg.xyz, a collection of PostgreSQL SQL exercises that run client side. Sharing here because it might be of use to people!
