This TypeScript package allows you to safely execute JavaScript code within a WebAssembly sandbox using the QuickJS engine. Perfect for isolating and running untrusted code securely, it leverages the lightweight and fast QuickJS engine compiled to WebAssembly, providing a robust environment for code execution. Features - *Security*: Run untrusted JavaScript code in a safe, isolated environment. - *File System*: Can mount a virtual file system - *Custom Node Modules*: Custom node modules are mountable - *Fetch Client*: Can provide a fetch client to make http(s) calls - *Test-Runner*: Includes…

This is the entire Firefox browser rendering to a element. Gecko, all UI components, and the Spidermonkey JS engine are all compiled and running in WebAssembly. Here are a few things you might find interesting: - This is fully end to end encrypted! We use the WISP protocol for TCP-over-websockets. - There is a novel WASM->JS JIT for experimental site speedup - This port cost over 25k in opus/fable tokens for debugging and JIT research This was just a fun experiment to push the boundaries of WebAssembly. For a more usable "browser in browser" experience, we also built…

I am super excited to open-source the code executor behind logicboard.com - an in-browser collaborative code editor. The backend is written in Elixir+Phoenix and implements a WebSocket API to execute code in docker containers. Next steps include making this more secure, I am considering Google's gVisor to implement better isolation between containers and the host kernel.

In this release I have concentrated on user experience: - Full support of shortcuts - Reworked collections management - Notifications - Improved UX gRPC clients I’ve worked with had drawbacks and didn’t fit my use-case in a way I was expecting, since I’ve started working with gRPC 3+ years ago. Since then, I wanted a tool that fits any need in gRPC world. This is why I created ezy. Compared to Insomnia and Postman, ezy offers better streams support, allows you to use Server-Side and Mutual TLS with custom TLS certificates, works with gRPC-Web and has a more slick UI/UX. If you are…

A lightweight engine for durable execution / deterministic workflows I built with Rust, wasmtime and the WASM Component Model. Its main use is running reliable, long-running workflows that can automatically resume after failures. Looking for feedback on the approach and potential use cases!

QuickBEAM is a JavaScript runtime embedded inside the Erlang/OTP VM. If you’re building a full-stack app, JavaScript tends to leak in anyway — frontend, SSR, or third-party code. QuickBEAM runs that JavaScript inside OTP supervision trees. Each runtime is a process with a `Beam` global that can: - call Elixir code - send/receive messages - spawn and monitor processes - inspect runtime/system state It also provides browser-style APIs backed by OTP/native primitives (fetch, WebSocket, Worker, BroadcastChannel, localStorage, native DOM, etc.). This makes it usable for: - SSR…

[I'm the author] Spall is a web-accessible profiler that I made to help my web-dev friends load gigabyte+ JSON traces without lunch-break-long load times. Recently, Spall got experimental support for auto-tracing with binary traces (along with an in-progress native-port, to give it more memory headroom), which was used to help track down and fix some hard-to-spot lock contention issues in the Odin-language compiler. I demoed it at the Handmade Seattle conference in October, https://guide.handmade-seattle.com/c/2022/spall/, with a head-to-head against Perfetto,…

Hi HN. I am a programmer from Japan who loves Emacs. I am building elecxzy. It is a free (zero-cost), lightweight, Emacs-like text editor for Windows. I designed it to be comfortable and ready to use immediately, without a custom init.el. Here is a quick overview: - Provides mouse-free operation and classic Emacs keybindings for essential tasks (file I/O, search, split windows, syntax highlighting). - Drops the Lisp execution engine entirely. This keeps startup and operation lightweight. - Solves CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) IME control issues natively on Windows. I never managed to…

Earlier this year, we released our open-source game engine [0] built with Rust, WebAssembly, and WebGPU. Today, we’re happy to announce the Ambient platform, which brings web deployment, server hosting, and more to the runtime. With Ambient, you can make a game, deploy it to the browser in one command, share your URL and instantly play with others, no downloads or installs needed. Our WASM use is innovative; it is being used as both a sandboxed runtime for user code, and as a way to run the entire Ambient runtime in the browser. This, paired with our ECS data model, enables a highly modular…
