Hello! This is Jeane and Samuel and we’re building RecipeUI. RecipeUI is an open source Postman alternative that uses TypeScript to statically type and autocomplete requests. We built this because current API tools don’t deal with the fact that some APIs are just painful to work with. For us, it’s usually error after error as we try to figure out how to properly form the first request. We recorded a demo to show you how TypeScript helps us autocomplete a request correctly. https://youtu.be/O_Mly_p-g5s How does our platform improve the developer experience? The analogy is…

Read this article by Cloudflare this morning https://blog.cloudflare.com/code-mode/ the main argument being that LLMs are much better at writing typescript code than tool calls because they've seen typescript code many more times. HN Discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45399204 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45386248 Deno provides a great sandbox environment for Typescript code execution because of its permissions system which made it easy to spin up code that only has access to fetch and network calls. Stick an MCP proxy…

Hi, I’m Kenny, I’ve been building aislop. I starting working on this after using Claude Code, codex and opencode several times and noticing some slops. They aren’t syntax and passes most tests, they are patterns like empty catch blocks, useless comments, duplicated helpers, dead code and many more. So I built a tool to scan and check for these patterns and wired it into hooks so after each tool call, the agent checks for the slops. You can try it out with npx aislop scan. It’s all local and no code is transferred. Thank you.

We've been building Crust (https://crustjs.com/), a TypeScript-first, Bun-native CLI framework with zero dependencies. It's been powering our core product internally for a while, and we're now open-sourcing it. The problem we kept running into: existing CLI frameworks in the JS ecosystem are either minimal arg parsers where you wire everything yourself, or heavyweight frameworks with large dependency trees and Node-era assumptions. We wanted something in between. What Crust does differently: - Full type inference from definitions — args and flags are inferred automatically. No…

Hi Hacker News! My name is Sagar, I’m working on a startup called Speakeasy - we’re making all APIs self-service. The platform is currently in beta, but we’re independently launching this tool which you can use to generate language-idiomatic, statically-typed TS SDKs from any public OpenAPI schemas. We hope to continue iterating on this to give devs a way to easily generate high fidelity client SDKs for all the major languages. Inspiration for this product is from past experiences struggling with OpenAPI. I was originally optimistic about using the OpenAPI tools to build out our offering,…

Hello, folks. I'm Jiang, the author of ESInfer. I love writing Javascript because it has a prosperous ecosystem and is quick to get my hands dirty. However, sometimes it's painful when the flow is not fast to follow due to the lack of a type system. To solve this, I wrote ESInfer, a statical inference tool, to automatically type check and generate type annotations for Javascript. It works with pure Javascript without any add-ons to the language or user-space code and supports highly dynamic features, such as the modification of prototypes. It is still in the very early stage, which offers…

Hi HN, I built fp-pack, a small TypeScript functional utility library focused on pipe-first composition. The goal is to keep pipelines simple and readable, while still supporting early exits and side effects — without introducing monads like Option or Either. Most code uses plain pipe/pipeAsync. For the few cases that need early termination, fp-pack provides a SideEffect-based pipeline that short-circuits safely. I also wrote an “AI agent skills” document to help LLMs generate consistent fp-pack-style code. Feedback, criticism, or questions are very welcome.

Rev-dep is a dependency analysis and optimization CLI for JavaScript and TypeScript projects. It helps answer questions like: where is this file used, what are the entry points, are there circular dependencies, and which files or node_modules are unused. I recently rewrote it from scratch in Go to focus on performance and low memory usage. On large codebases (500k+ LOC), circular dependency detection runs in a few hundred milliseconds and is up to 175x faster than Madge in my benchmarks. Feature-wise it overlaps partially with tools like madge, dpdm, skott, and dependency-cruiser, but aims…

Took a stab at building my own string diffing JS package. I built an interactive demo for TypeIt’s website (https://typeitjs.com/build-your-own) a while back. The approach I took to handle user input necessitated a way to calculate the difference between the versions of a user’s text input. I searched around for a package to help me out and found a couple of good ones (like fast-diff), but I either didn’t really like their API or didn’t want to take on a huge new dependency. Instead, I thought I’d give it a shot myself (famous last words). I dove into it having no real formal…

I kept seeing every npm/pnpm/yarn/bun/uv supply chain post end with the same advice (set a minimum release age, turn off install scripts), and while I know cooldowns are "controversial", they do work. But even if you convince people that they should set cooldowns, it seems many don't end up following through, not sure why, maybe because it means hand-editing five config files in five formats with five different time units, or perhaps the "it won't happen to me" syndrome (or "I'll do it later, it seems complicated" where it's actually very simple). So I created a tool that…

AI coding assistants are productive but sloppy. They produce code that looks right but: - Imports packages that don't exist - Uses placeholder functions that do nothing - Leaks patterns from JavaScript, Java, Ruby into Python - Leaves behind dead code and duplicates - Uses mutable default arguments I built sloppylint to catch these "AI slop" patterns before they hit production. pip install sloppylint sloppylint . It detects 100+ patterns across categories: - Hallucinated imports (20% of AI imports reference non-existent packages) - Placeholder code (`pass`, `...`, `TODO`) - Wrong-language…
