Built a ~9M param LLM from scratch to understand how they actually work. Vanilla transformer, 60K synthetic conversations, ~130 lines of PyTorch. Trains in 5 min on a free Colab T4. The fish thinks the meaning of life is food. Fork it and swap the personality for your own character.

Hey there, I’m Brian. I've been shipping conversational models over here at Tavus for the past two years. I want to tell you about our new audio-understanding model: Sparrow-2! It’s a new category of model and a unique new approach to conversational audio. Earlier this year we launched Sparrow-1, (at the time) our SoTA turn taking model. Since our Sparrow-1 launch, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to humans talking and trying to really understand how people know when to talk, when to listen, and when to wait. I’ve also been hunting down failure modes of the current SoTA models. And while…

Destiny is the Claude Code's plugin that gives you a real fortune reading. Type /destiny to see today's destiny! It uses the actual classical East Asian astrology system. You enter your birthday once, then /destiny gives you today's reading anytime. Two layers, kept honest: 1. The numbers (your eight-character birth chart, today's day pillar, the hexagram for the moment, five-element relationships) are computed by a Python script. Same person + same day = identical output. You can verify against any traditional calendar source. 2. The prose (today's stars, character sketch, life…

Hey HN! I've been building tooling for voice-driven apps over the past few months, as part of a hardware project. Someone suggested adapting the DSL to play Dungeons and Dragons. So, here we are! What is it? An AI-powered, voice-controlled D&D adventure set in the world of Dvorak. Talk to characters, explore locations, and shape the story using your words. Use your microphone to interact with the AI dungeon master. Explore freely – interrupt, ask questions, or take unexpected actions. If you make friends at the tavern, you can also just hang out there and chat. Hint: Talk to the bartender to…

It’s written in Python and I call it GoalChain. It lets you build a conversation flow graph that the user traverses. When there’s enough input it spits out a dictionary with the defined fields. Otherwise it will jump state to state as led by the user. It was fun to write, and it’s surprisingly effective if you keep in mind you’re prompt-engineering every string and field name. README.md has a mini-tutorial. Would be cool to get some ideas for how to build it further and what improvements I could make.

I've been wondering how I could use LLMs to help me write, without taking my own voice away. I arrived at a workflow where the AI has strict instructions not to give me any text, just to give me tips, but it was clunky to see which parts of the text the critique referred to. To solve it, I made Lucid. I made it mostly for myself, but I added a "bring your own key" system for others to use it. I hope you like it!

We kept seeing the same problem: creators make great content but the moment they dub it into another language, everything falls apart. Robotic voice. Music gone. Meaning lost. Lips not matching. We clone your voice, match your gestures, preserve your music, and optionally sync your lips to the new language. 10+ Indian languages, 20+ global languages, all in minutes. I am a product designer by profession, and recently, I ventured into coding and started developing applications. Today, I'm excited to share a project I've been passionately working on. The concept is a voice-activated journal: just voice-record your thoughts, and the app will transcribe them into text. I built this to help those like me who struggle to build a journaling habit. Also has features that encourage habbit building like a streak/tracker and a threshold marker encouraging you to record a minimum amount. I used OpneAI Whisper to power the transcriptions which means you can…
