Products that do what diskard – A fast TUI disk usage analyzer with trash functionality does

This is an ncdu clone written in Rust that I figured others might find useful! The main things that differentiate it from ncdu are: - It's very fast. In my benchmarks it's often twice as fast. - It allows you to send files to trash rather than permanently delete. Please try it out and lmk if I can improve on anything!

This is a long-running project that started as the proverbial need to scratch my own itch and then somehow evolved into a full-time job of the past 6 years. Link: https://bvckup2.com I thought I'd do a Show HN for two reasons. 1. I obviously want to show my baby to those who haven't seen it. Its primary purpose is to do very fast file replication. If you are familiar with "robocopy /mir" - same idea, but on steroids. Lots of them. It can be used for both mirroring and archiving backups, among other things. It is light, very small and it is really quite fast. Half of the…

In my spare time I've been trying to solve the problem of network filesystems being too slow. To that end I've created CacheFS. CacheFS keeps a lazy local copy of your network drive in an attempt to make your network drive appear as fast as your local drive. The project is far from consumer-ready, but it has hit a major milestone: It caches reads and doesn't appear to corrupt anything. I'm throwing it out here in the off-chance that someone else finds it useful, and for constructive feedback. Enjoy! https://github.com/cconstantine/CacheFS

Hi, over the past few months I've been working on this project: Numax is a small Rust runtime that does three things: it runs WebAssembly modules in a sandbox, has a built-in local key-value store, and syncs everything across nodes with CRDTs and gossip. Basically, you write a wasm module, run it on two machines, and they converge (I hope !). It's a decentralized system... I hope someone finds it interesting! There's a whitepaper I've put a lot into, and I think the code isn't bad either! I believe there's still room in this world for software that's fun and well made, and while building…

After years of lurking on Hacker News, I figured it was time to finally contribute back. Fileloupe for Mac is a new Mac application that I've been working on for the last year. Version 1.0 was just released in the Mac App Store but Hacker News readers are welcome to download a beta version of 1.1 here: https://kennyc.s3.amazonaws.com/Fileloupe1.1-72-Beta.zip Fileloupe is a high-performance, incredibly fast file viewer that, I think, makes looking at photos, videos, PDFs and documents a lot better than the existing solutions. It doesn't replace Finder (or iPhoto /…
