Curated Dockerfile templates for any framework or language

While it's not hard to write a Dockerfile, I think it's hard to write a good one. Every language has its own quirks, and every framework has a special way of building things. I was looking for a collection of well-written and well-maintained Dockerfiles, but I couldn't find one. Thus, I thought of creating one! I realized it's not enough to have a simple Dockerfile. Sometimes you need other files for your build: nginx.conf, php.ini, my.cnf, etc. I also realized that people have different preferences. In Node, some use NPM, some use YARN, some use PNPM. In PHP, some use Apache, some use FPM…

This project addresses the inefficiencies of traditional Dockerfile-based container builds where each customization layer creates storage bloat through duplicate dependencies from repeated apt-get install commands, network inefficiency from redundant package downloads across different images, and slow iteration cycles requiring full rebuilds of all previous steps. Our solution enables building minimal base images from scratch using debootstrap that precisely include only required components in the initial build, while allowing creation of specialized variants (Java, Kafka, etc.) from these…

After a decade of shipping Django to production, I got tired of solving the same setup problems on every new project. Environment-first settings. Sensible auth defaults. Structured logging. CI from day zero. Pre-commit hooks. Docker. Security hardening. Every project meant two days of boilerplate before writing business logic. So I built Django Keel: a production-ready Django starter that eliminates the yak-shaving. GitHub: https://github.com/CuriousLearner/django-keel *What you get*: - 12-factor config with environment-based secrets - Production-hardened security…

I'm working on a CLI that helps you create the boilerplate of your project in multiple languages and frameworks. In case of front-end frameworks/libraries, with cli you'll be able to create the project, set up git on your local, add the UI-framework, testing framework, and linting, and in the future releases you'll be able to even add pre-designed components. The CLI currently supports React, Angular, Vue, Svelte and Node.js will be released today. Also soon, you'll be able to deploy your applications to AWS with a single command. Appreciate your feedbacks and all the contributions are…

Golang is an incredible language for web development. That being said, indie developers and small businesses will likely miss extensive resources found in other projects like Django. Although building an application from the ground up using the standard library is possible, it can be error prone and time consuming. Pocketbase has almost everything an indie developer needs, supporting database, authentication, and file storage into a single, easy-to-deploy executable. Combined with HTMX, and you can created a full stack web application without bloated front end frameworks. That being said,…

Hi all! I've built a small tool to visualize how inefficient `docker pull` is, in preparation for standing up a new Docker registry + transport. It's bugged me for a while that updating one dependency with Docker drags along many other changes. It's a huge problem with Docker+robotics. With dozens or hundreds of dependencies, there's no "right" way to organize the layers that doesn't end up invalidating a bunch of layers on a single dependency update - and this is ignoring things like compiled code, embedded ML weights, etc. Even worse, many robotics deployments are on terrible internet,…
