Hi HN, This is a TUI app which displays interactive Markdown documents. Interactive in the sense that you can scroll code fences / tables / and click links. There's a Table of Contents extracted from the MD, and a very rudimentary browser like forward + back. I'm thinking it could be the starting point for a variety of hypertext like applications in the terminal. Very much a work in progress.

We are working on an open-source .docx editor library for apps that need to edit Word documents in the browser. We just shipped 1.0. A lot of existing approaches convert .docx into HTML and lose document semantics along the way. Our editor parses OOXML directly and uses its own rendering+layout engine to produce paged documents with html/css. Edits round-trip back to .docx, so you’re always editing the document, not its representation. The core rendering engine is framework agnostic, with React and Vue ui adapters on top. It’s Apache 2.0. Hi HN, Frogmouth is a TUI to display Markdown files. It does a passable job of displaying Markdown, with code blocks and tables. No image support as yet. It's very browser like, with navigation stack, history, and bookmarks. Works with both the mouse and keyboard. There are shortcuts for viewing README.md files and other Markdown on GitHub and GitLab. We needed a JS-first WYSIWYG DOCX editor and couldn't find a solid OSS option, most were either commercial or abandoned. As an experiment, we gave Claude Code the OOXML spec, a concrete editor architecture, and a Playwright-based test suite. The agent iterated in a (Ralph) loop over a few nights and produced a working editor from scratch. Core text editing works today. Tables and images are functional but still incomplete. MIT licensed.

Toast is an attempt to make file editing and navigating as pleasant in the terminal as an IDE. I had messed around with nvim and plugins but couldn’t find an easy way to get what I wanted, which was mostly a file tree and an editor with some syntax highlighting that looked nice. I will say a lot of this is written by Claude, mostly because I have two new born twins so this project wouldn’t exist otherwise. I hope someone finds it feels a niche like I do!
