Doxx – Terminal .docx viewer inspired by Glow

I got tired of open file.docx → wait 8 seconds → close Word just to read a document, so I built a terminal-native Word viewer! What it does: * View `.docx` files directly in your terminal with (mostly) proper formatting * Tables actually look like tables (with Unicode borders!) * Nested lists work correctly with indentation * Full-text search with highlighting * Copy content straight to clipboard with `c` * Export to markdown/CSV/JSON Why I made this: Working on servers over SSH, I constantly hit Word docs I needed to check quickly. The existing solutions I'm aware of either strip…

In plain words

Doxx is a terminal-based viewer for .docx files that displays Word documents directly in the command line with preserved formatting, including properly rendered tables and nested lists. It includes full-text search with highlighting, clipboard copy functionality, and export options to markdown, CSV, and JSON formats. Designed for developers working over SSH who need quick access to Word documents without launching a full application, it starts in milliseconds and works entirely in the terminal.

Hi HN, This is a TUI app which displays interactive Markdown documents. Interactive in the sense that you can scroll code fences / tables / and click links. There's a Table of Contents extracted from the MD, and a very rudimentary browser like forward + back. I'm thinking it could be the starting point for a variety of hypertext like applications in the terminal. Very much a work in progress.

  • Open-source .docx editor library for building document appsMay 2026 · github.com · ▲107

We are working on an open-source .docx editor library for apps that need to edit Word documents in the browser. We just shipped 1.0. A lot of existing approaches convert .docx into HTML and lose document semantics along the way. Our editor parses OOXML directly and uses its own rendering+layout engine to produce paged documents with html/css. Edits round-trip back to .docx, so you’re always editing the document, not its representation. The core rendering engine is framework agnostic, with React and Vue ui adapters on top. It’s Apache 2.0. Happy to answer questions.

Word in Web – Near MS Word Parity Docx Editor in WebJul 2026 · word-in-web.com · ▲37

Word in web is a pure JS docx editor/renderer benched against MS Word directly. This was largely inspired by Eigenpal going closed source, and some personal frustrations I had with working on complex Word templates, pleading papers, etc... and not having a clean way to view/edit them without owning MS Word (which I did just eventually buy but it sucked). This was also an exercise in highlighting the value of good evals for Agents to bench against. Instead of just throwing the OOXML standard at an agent and letting it spin, I put together a large corpus of Microsoft Word docs -…

  • A TUI for Markdown view an editingApr 2026 · mdee.bkh.dev · ▲20

Hi HN, I built a simple TUI for viewing and editing .md files in the terminal. More and more markdown files keep appearing in our projects, and I found myself needing a quick way to view(with syntax highlighting) and edit them without leaving the terminal, so I built this

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
