Products that do what Emulating Bitcoin on Ethereum does
Hi guys, It is no secret that I'm pretty tired of the political infighting around Bitcoin. The environment got so toxic that I stopped most of my Bitcoin-centric development to focus on other projects. I'm pretty sure there are many developers who have felt the same way, and the result has been an explosion in alternative coins and technologies as developer resources have gone elsewhere. So, I started a simple experiment. What if we got rid of developers entirely, and just replicated and adapted the deflationary structure of Bitcoin on Ethereum. We could model the entire process as an…

I know everyone is a bit burned out on blockchain and cryptocurrency related stuff around these parts, but I've been working on as a side project for the last few months and thought you guys might be interested: https://cryptoempire.io/ It's still a bit buggy and incomplete (the mobile ux needs a lot of work, the leaderboard isn't functional yet, etc.), but I've reached a point where I'm not totally ashamed of sharing it :) Any feedback would be most welcome!

I built this over the weekend. Any feedback is appreciated. Please note you will need a WebGL enabled browser. Thank you for checking it out. --UPDATE-- HN Traffic is strangling earthbit. There is sporadic downtime due to the web services I am using, if no transactions appear after a few seconds, then please try again in an hour.

A friend(@wolever) and I spent the weekend hacking up a small web app which makes it easy for you to sell digital goods for Bitcoins. Once a customer has clicked the “buy” button, we take care of giving them a unique address, monitoring that address for transactions, then securely notifying your website once a minimum number of confirmations have been received. Oh, ya, and then we send you the Bitcoins :) The website is here: BitWillet: http://www.bitwillet.com and there is a demo on the front page. (full disclosure: BitWillet uses the Willet, http://dev.getwillet.com, platform, of which I…

http://playbitpoker.com Hey, this is my first startup project and I'm pretty excited. I've got to the point where I feel I've got something solid, and I don't know what to do next. I haven't had masses of people using it and testing it with the test-network bitcoins. I have tested it a fair bit with friends and it seems there's no major problems. What should I do? Is this a minimum viable product? Should I try and promote it while it's still in testing, or should I switch over to using real bitcoins before doing that? I'd love to hear any suggestions you might have. P.S. I had…

Like in the movies when they show a current newspaper, but easier and safer. I use as seed the last mined ethereum block, and I show it in a fancy way.

Hi guys, I've written the first proof-of-mistake crypto token on top of Ethereum. You can see it at http://www.lostethereum.com/ It's basically a proof-of-burn substitute for users who mistakenly sent to the wrong address. It requires a web3 enabled browser, i.e chome with MetaMask, Parity, Mist, etc. This let's the web interface seamlessly interact with the Ethereum network. Let me know what you guys think.

Hi HN, I'm the creator of epress. After a lot of work, I'm excited (and a bit nervous) to finally share it with you. For years, I've been feeling like a digital tenant on the platforms I use every day. My content, my social graph, my online identity—they were all stored on someone else's servers, subject to their rules, algorithms, and business models. I could be de-platformed, my data could be sold, or an API I relied on could suddenly be put behind a paywall. I looked into existing decentralized alternatives. While many are great projects, I found they often shifted the trust from a big…

Abstract. Token-funded bounties to incentivize competition-style participation in blockchain development projects would result in wider and better allocation of investment, and allow investors to diversify exposure across a field of potentially successful projects. Overall this would increase the rate of progress within development of the blockchain space. We propose a centralised platform for the administration of token-funded bounty driven development projects whereby experts allocate pools of invested capital according to the technical merits of development projects, and investors are…

Experiments are fun. I recently came across Bitclout, and I love the underlying concept. It’s ballsy, will it work? — time will tell. I think Bitclout as a thesis is moving towards the right direction. Decentralised Social Media networks will be the next thing and allowing users to own their own social equity and monetise that is the future. Last year I started an experimental fund, Khoob (www.khoob.group) The idea was to invest in and build interesting Indian companies (a Betaworks / Expa for India). Thus far we have made 4 investments, and are building 4 companies. At Khoob I’m the…

Finding the balance between humans and machines has been the thread through my career. I always had a thing for AI and couldn't wait for it to actually deliver on what was promised. Now it does, and it's more important than ever that humans and machines keep working well together. AI makes creation trivial. Text, code, design, strategy, in seconds. But one thing AI does not create: independently verifiable proof of when something existed. Reproducing is now cheaper and easier than creating. Chronology becomes contestable at the moment it matters most. The universal problem was known. I…

I am Isaque Franklin and I build products and solve problems in my free time (between college and work) and also for a living. I am a Bitcoin maximalist and I truly believe that Bitcoin is the sanest money that exists today, and I also belive that hard money is essential for the development of civilization and for the future of mankind. However, one cannot uderstand Bitcoin and all it's applications and benefits without falling down the rabbit hole - an experience every bitcoiner has tasted in the beginning of their journey and constantly tastes when learning new things about bitcoin.…
