Hi HN — we built Factifi, a Chrome extension that does instant fact-checking on anything you’re reading or watching. Please keep in mind, this is just an MVP and will be buggy and fail. We were constantly pausing podcasts and Substack posts to ask, “Wait, is that actually true?”. After too many 30-minute Google rabbit holes, we decided to automate the work. What it does • Extracts claims from articles, blogs, YouTube videos (and even images) • Assigns a verdict + confidence score using live web search, a 200 M-paper research index, and a few proprietary datasets • Flags likely deepfakes and…

Hello Hacker News community, I've been developing a simple Chrome extension designed to assist journalists and researchers or learners in their YouTube investigations. You can swiftly identify specific segments within a video using semantic searches, powered by the OpenAI API. This transforms hours of potential scrubbing into moments of precision seeking. Whether you're sifting through extensive interviews, press conferences, and event footage on YouTube, or you require a quote from a video source, This extension is a handy tool. It also aids in quickly fact-checking statements made in…

Hey HN! We’re a group of high school students who built Factful, a Chrome extension that helps with research, fact-checking, and writing—all inline. When we first launched Factful as a web app, we got a lot of feedback asking for a more integrated experience, so we built a Chrome extension to let you fact-check and look up information without switching tabs. Making this work inside Google Docs was way harder than expected. Since Docs renders text using a canvas instead of regular HTML, we had to come up with creative workarounds to analyze and interact with what’s being written. It took a…

Hey HN! My name is Andrew, and I'm thrilled to share with you a project I've been working on called Factful. I'm a high school student with a passion for tackling misinformation online. Inspired by the need for more reliable content verification tools, I decided to create Factful. It's an AI-powered web app designed to revolutionize how individuals and organizations verify content. Unlike traditional grammar checkers, Factful provides a comprehensive analysis that goes beyond just grammar. It evaluates context, factuality, coherence, and more to ensure the accuracy and credibility of…

I created this chrome extension for myself where I track my own behavior locally and recommend myself content from platforms I want content from (youtube/twitter/quora/etc) in a feed. I made it public just in case anyone else was interested. I would rather have control over my own algorithm and own the data. Also, it gives me flexibility. Turns out I do like these feeds just not when I don't own it haha. Let me know what you think of my implementation?
