Wanna impress your audience but don’t have enough money for a lambo? Fake it till you make it with a phony MRR dashboard! This might just look like I'm taking the piss, but I see this as an artistic statement about the latest trend of posting fake/embellished marketing content

TLDR: I made a public only web analytics without signup. Stores views and visitors for 10 days before deleting data. Exactly 25 days ago today I posted here, proud of my new web analytics. The response was mixed and my post even got flagged (understandable). It was my first real launch and I actually made a sale just a day later of 49$(!). Back then my project was pay once, keep forever. Since then I have sadly went over to the dark side (subscription based). After months of using Google Analytics I realized only about 50% of people accepted my cookie-popup. I had months of incorrect data for my website. I started looking for alternatives and eventually found Plausible, which is great (and open-source). Problem is, I didn't feel like paying 9$ a month to see the amount of visitors on a website i didn't even earn anything on, it was just a hobby project. Eventually I started making my own web analytics. Which actually isn't that hard. It took me about a month of working on my spare time every now and then. Being GDPR compliant basically means to…

Hi, everyone! Lately, I've been working on quite a few applications that require a database, and as a result, I need some data to test everything. It has always taken me a lot of time to ask ChatGPT to generate fake data for me, so I decided to create a tool for developers called FakeData. FakeData allows developers to generate fake data easily with a simple UI/UX and customizable fields. This data can be used in their applications to test various functionalities. P.S. The app is not yet finished, and I would love to hear your honest feedback on it. Please be brutally honest about what…

I lead design on a B2B SaaS product. It's quite data-heavy in places. Using placeholder content in data tables, checkout summaries and dashboards is a big no-no for us. It might seem like using random numbers saves time at first, but sooner or later there's documentation to write and plenty of clarifications to be made. It throws off customers during interviews – "hey, that's not really my sales target!". It confuses stakeholders at review time– "what's this data point supposed to be?" I built a Figma calculator plugin for my team so that they spend less time doing mental maths. It…
