I have spent several years working on search engines in the backend and have now utilized that experience to develop a fuzzy search library for the frontend. It's fast, accurate and can be used for all languages. It should be easy to integrate into your Javascript / Typescript projects. If you test it and find any edge cases that did not work for you please let me know. The implementation is based on 3-grams by the book, augmented with a novel trick of sorting the characters within the 3-grams for enhanced accuracy. For a detailed explanation you may refer to my related blog post at…

Hello HN! I became frustrated with the unpredictible/poor match quality and opaqueness of "relevance scores" in existing fuzzy and fulltext search libs, so I tried something different and this is the result. The main selling point is the result quality / ordering, with best-in-class memory overhead and excellent performance being bonuses. The API is pretty stable at this point, but looking for feedback before committing to 1.0. TL;DR The test corpus is a 4MB json file with 162k words/phrases, so give it a second for initial download. You can also drag/drop your own…

Hi HN! This started late last year as an afternoon project to play around with ElasticSearch, and then I kept thinking of new features I wanted to add. I still have a lot of things I want to build, but now seemed like a good time to put it out there: even if the results aren’t nearly the quality I’d like, I’ve still found it useful and I want to show it off! I’ve been working on it since September 2021, but only in fits and starts. The entire thing runs on a computer in my living room (there’s a picture on the About page); I haven’t done any load testing so we’ll see how it holds up.

Hey everyone, I have updated my fuzzy search library for the frontend. It now supports substring and prefix search, on top of fuzzy matching. It's fast, accurate, multilingual and has zero dependencies. GitHub: https://github.com/m31coding/fuzzy-search Live demo: https://www.m31coding.com/fuzzy-search-demo.html I would love to hear your feedback and any suggestions you may have for improving the library. Happy coding!

Fuzzyhome is a lightweight new-tab page that lets you very quickly fuzzy find links and navigate to a result. If there are no matching links, you can use your query to perform a search with your search engine of choice. You can also append your query to arbitrary links with a bang-like feature. Cohesive usage instructions can be found on the GitHub page: https://github.com/familyfriendlymikey/fuzzyhome Fuzzyhome is free, entirely client-side, and statically hosted with Cloudflare pages. No sign in or account required. Export your links to a JSON file in the settings menu…
