I just released Phoenix 2.0! I took over the project this summer and rewrote it from the ground up. :) Phoenix is a lightweight OS X window and app manager scriptable with JavaScript. You can also easily use languages which compile to JavaScript such as CoffeeScript. Phoenix aims for efficiency and a very small footprint. If you like the idea of scripting your own window or app management toolkit with JavaScript, Phoenix is probably going to give you the things you want. With Phoenix you can bind keyboard shortcuts and system events, and use these to interact with OS X. Take a look!…

http://www.BromBone.com I posted “Tell HN: My Web App has 13 Users” 3 months ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5386966). Over time, it grew to 150 (free) users, but retention was pretty much zero. I was trying to cast a wide net and offer a generic “headless browser as a service”. It turned out I had make a service that was a little helpful to many people, but didn't really solve anyone's problem completely. I finally took the advise offered in that thread. I focused on a problem I understood, and solved it completely instead of just offering a helpful tool.…

Hello HN! Being a software engineer and an SEO guy I wrote a heap of tools and scripts to make my life easier. Now I've decided to share some of them with the community, and made a small site where I will be publishing them. They are all completely free (yes, free forever) and you don't even need to sign up for the site. Just use the thing as you like, no limits. Currently you can access 4 instruments: - Backlink retriever - Thin/weak content analyzer - Traffic trend analysis - Visitor list retriever I am planning on releasing more free tools with time, and trying to stay original by…

I've been building a bunch of random side projects, as I'm sure we all are. Most analytics tools were either too heavy or required juggling multiple free tiers across different subdomains. After looking what's out there I couldn't find a lightweight analytics platform that worked on the free tier of fly.io. It's a single Go binary using DuckDB for events and SQLite for metadata, so there are no external dependencies to manage. Drop a script tag on your site and it auto-captures pageviews and clicks. The part I'm most excited about: it uses an LLM to automatically name raw click events into…
