This is a file-based caching tool for Python developers who work with slow functions. It stores function results locally to avoid redundant computations, speeding up repeated operations. The tool integrates into Python… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. File-based cache for slow Python functions launched in 2024; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

The FunctionCacher Python utility provides a way to cache the result of a (computation- or IO-heavy) function call to a location on the filesystem, ideally onto a ramdisk/tmpfs. This allows caches to exceed the lifetime of the program, which is useful for rapid-prototyping (& rapid-crashing) scripts. Caches are generated based function name, parameters, and code. Hi HN! This is my pet project, written from scratch because there is so much to discover and learn in the process. The focus is on simplicity and incremental updates. Progress is slow because I do not have much spare time to work on this, but I would love to hear some feedback. Regards

My immediate reaction to today's news that Splunk was being acquired was to comment in the HN discussion for that story: "I hated Splunk so much that I spent a couple days a few months ago writing a single 1200 line python script that does absolutely everything I need in terms of automatic log collection, ingestion, and analysis from a fleet of cloud instances. It pulls in all the log lines, enriches them with useful metadata like the IP address of the instance, the machine name, the log source, the datetime, etc. and stores it all in SQlite, which it then exposes to a very convenient web…

In my spare time I've been trying to solve the problem of network filesystems being too slow. To that end I've created CacheFS. CacheFS keeps a lazy local copy of your network drive in an attempt to make your network drive appear as fast as your local drive. The project is far from consumer-ready, but it has hit a major milestone: It caches reads and doesn't appear to corrupt anything. I'm throwing it out here in the off-chance that someone else finds it useful, and for constructive feedback. Enjoy! https://github.com/cconstantine/CacheFS

pypipe is a command-line tool for writing data pipelines in Python. When working with data processing in the terminal, I often find myself wanting to pass the output of commands to Python for further processing. In such cases, one can either write one-liners or create regular Python scripts and connect them through pipes. However, using pypipe makes this process more convenient and efficient.
