I made FingerprinterJS, a small library with no dependencies that creates browser fingerprints from signals like canvas, WebGL, audio, fonts, userAgent, and screen info. It’s written in TypeScript, lets you enable/disable collectors, add custom data, and includes a simple suspicious-activity score. Would love feedback.

Hey HN! Happy to finally launch Stack. We made it because we like to put apps into production quickly, and authentication & user management was taking up way too much time. We have components like and that automatically adapt to whatever theme & design system you're using. Check the blog post to see the example with Radix UI and Joy UI. Also, there's an admin dashboard for monitoring and editing accounts. Stack is 100% AGPL/MIT-licensed, so you can self-host it. Cheers!

Hi HN, I built DevicePrint after running into problems with duplicate accounts and unreliable cookies in my own projects. DevicePrint is a lightweight device fingerprinting tool designed for developers. It helps identify devices across sessions without relying on cookies. Use cases include fraud detection, preventing duplicate signups, and security-sensitive workflows. I'd really appreciate feedback — especially around privacy concerns or edge cases you’ve run into. Hi HN! I've been working lately on unifying firefox configuration. Many people work on creating custom `userChrome.css` files and modules, browser user scripts, etc, but it's hard to actually use these a lot of the time. It usually involves cloning a repo, finding a folder and lots of copy paste. My tool (firebuilder) has an interactive CLI to select what to apply, (e.g. firefox hardening, custom CSS, etc) then creates a brand new profile folder for you. You can also seamlessly port from an existing profile folder to preserve all of your history, bookmarks, extensions, etc. For those more…

Hello Hacker News! I’m Tomasz, creator of Privacy Thing, a browser extension for Firefox and Chromium-based browsers. I’ve just released its Preview version. Privacy Thing aims to reduce browser fingerprinting—the tracking of users without cookies. It began as an internal project: a simple location simulator. Over time, I expanded it to cover more fingerprinting surfaces. It now has 13 protection categories affecting 50+ browser APIs and methods: Geolocation, time and locale settings, Canvas, WebGL, Audio, Navigator, Screen, Client Hints, Battery, WebRTC, Dedicated Workers, Service Workers,…

I'm a consultant and I normally deal with multiple clients. I need an isolated browser for each to maintain my sanity. I could create separate profiles in Chrome and Firefox but the main issue is when you click on a link outside of the browser (e.g. in your IDE), in which profile should it be opened? I wrote a Python script that redirects URLs to the correct browser instance and set it as my default browser. Over time, the script has grown and become essential to my work. I cleaned it up and open-sourced it. Hope that someone else may find it useful too!
