24 alternatives to Flowershow

I'm Rufus, one of the founders of Flowershow. We love markdown and use it everywhere from making websites, to docs, to knowledgebases. Plus AI splits it everywhere now. Got tired of the framework/config/deploy overhead every time we wanted to share a file or put a site online. So we built the thing we wanted. Files in. Website out. "Vercel for Content" is our aspiration - make deploying (markdown) content as fast, seamless and easy as Vercel did for JS. Command line plus you can connect to github repos, use Obsidian via plugin, or drag and drop files. npm i -g…

My partner usually writes substack posts which I then mirror to our website’s blog section. To automate this, I made a simple tool to scrape the post and clean it so that I can drop it to our blog easily. This might be useful to others as well. Oh and ofcourse you can instruct GPT to make any final edits :D

Hi HN, Nick here. We’re launching OpenKnowledge (https://openknowledge.ai/), a “what you see is what you get” markdown editor that has direct integrations with Claude, Codex, and other agents. Available as MacOS app or Web UI+CLI. Fully free/local and OSS. We built this because we wanted a Notion-like experience for writing and sharing markdown files across our team. Obsidian is the best alternative we tried, but found it doesn’t have a true WYSWIG UI and it didn’t integrate well with Claude/Codex outside of community plugins. So we built OpenKnowledge. It takes…

HI Hacker News! I’m very excited to show you this project I have been working on, MarkdownSite.com. For folks who interact with the website, it is a web hosting platform where you can add your repository and have a website built from the `public/` directory. Files in `site/` with an `.md` extension are rendered from markdown to HTML, and the website is then available at a random subdomain. For folks that set up their own instance, it can also become a framework for customized building. The entire project is open source and I tried my best to document and explain the structure of…

Hey everyone, Really excited to share what I've been working on. Rapidpages is a prompt-first online IDE, think midjourney for front-end developers. I've been working on this for a while and it's great to see some interest from companies like Vercel in this space. All you need for self-hosting is an OpenAI key and a GitHub oauth app. Simply clone the repo and play with it. It's also available on the cloud at www.rapidpages.io Please give it a try and let me know if you have any feedback, and if you like what I'm doing with Rapidpages, please give it a star on GitHub. Thanks!

Hey HN, In this age of agentic coding I've found myself spending a lot of time reviewing markdown files. Whether it's plans or documentation that I've asked my agent to generate for me, it seems that I spend more time reading markdown than code. I've tried a few different solutions to make it easier to read such as Obsidian however I've found their Vault system to be quite limiting for this use case and I've found TUI solutions to not quite be as friendly to read as I've wanted so I made Marky. Marky is a lightweight desktop application that makes it incredibly easy to read and track your…

Hi HN, I've just Open Sourced Markdown Ninja (https://markdown.ninja), a Markdown-first CMS to publish blogs, documentation websites and newsletters. Our motto is simple: focus on what matters, we take care of all the technical details. Websites, Newsletters, privacy-first analytics, SEO optimizations, headless CMS. Everything is built into a single, unified platform. I've launched a few projects over the years and the first thing I always need to do is to setup a website for the documentation, a blog and a newsletter to keep people updated. I've *never* been satisfied with the…

I have been dogfooding this npx tool to build all my markdown content sites. It allows me to start a site within minutes. As it's just `npx zenmd && netlify deploy` without downloading any framework starter kit, cloning any repo, or generating any folder structure with configs. It's built on remark.js, supports images, [[wikilinks]], and raw html in markdown, as well as custom layout.html customizations. Once the site is built, you can open the output `.html` pages without a server to preview. Demo: here is a post expanding on the "whys" on my personal site (built with ZenMD) -…

I built Markdown Viewer because every Markdown app I found was either bloated (VS Code, Obsidian) or too bare-bones. Wanted something that loads instantly, renders Obsidian-style features cleanly, and weighs in at a few megabytes. Built with Tauri 2 (Rust backend + webview frontend): - GitHub Flavored Markdown + Obsidian extensions (wikilinks, callouts, emoji, math, Mermaid diagrams) - Frontmatter rendered as a structured metadata bar above content - HTML sanitization via ammonia for security - No heavy dependencies, no Electron What makes it interesting isn't so much the features — but how…

Hi everyone! I built this tool because I couldn't find a simpler solution to my problem (publish a markdown file and make it available online so other people can see). I hope you'll find it useful too! Currently, what it does is only publish a markdown file, but I'm thinking of adding features like styling, custom URL, password-protected link, etc. But I don't know whether people would find it useful. Let me know what you think!

I write a lot in Markdown. Notes, ideas, drafts, half-finished thoughts, lots of code. Lots and lots of code. One thing that has always annoyed me is there's nowhere to just slap a .md file, share it, and have it look pretty. Most platforms either try to turn writing into a social network, a CMS, or some AI something or other. Sometimes you just want to take a Markdown file and put it on the internet without ceremony. The paid plans have a couple of features like encryption at rest, password protection, launch and expiry dates, etc. It's probably got a few bugs, so let me know what you think…
