Please check it out. I spent all of 2012 learning to code to launch what would eventually become Uncover. I'm super excited to announce that we're finally live. Here's a blog post I wrote on how we got there and a little story behind the startup: http://spencerfry.com/introducing-uncover

Sysadmin is my bread and butter, but I taught myself PHP and have been coding on and off for the past 6 years. I've worked on numerous freelance gigs, but mainly internal apps that I use for my real job. I worked on this project (on and off) for the past year and I'm happy to finally release it to the public. Even if it doesn't succeed, I'm happy that I was able to "scratch an itch" I've had for the past couple of years. I wanted to make something and prove to myself that I can program. I'm not the greatest, but I'm proud of what I've achieved. http://www.ikeepm.com

Fog Creek gave us a couple of months to work on something "new" for the company. After a ton of brainstorming, we came up with an idea kind of like JS fiddle for CSS, but with instant hosting baked-in. The result is http://webputty.net WebPutty is built on Google AppEngine (a first for Fog Creek) using Python with Flask and Jinja2. We'd love to hear what you think and if you find it useful!

4 months ago sucked. Our technical co-founder quit after 6 months and we still had no product. My co-founder and I had been 'working' on our startup for 8 months. I say 'working' because as the "business people" - there wasn't a whole lot we could do except philosophize. We had gotten really awesome intros to some of the top VCs and entrepreneurs, but had nothing to show. And now we felt stranded. Had we wasted 8 months of our lives? Identity crisis? Check. So we did what any rational person would do - we ran to the mountains. Literally. In Boone, NC - we talked about why we started Knowit,…

Hello all, I built about 2 years ago a coding website for kids, teens and adults: https://codeguppy.com Despite my efforts to promote the website it is still not well know. I post almost daily about it on Twitter at https://twitter.com/codeguppy ... but even there I don't have views. The website is fun... although I still have a ton of things to add. I appreciate if you take a look and suggest improvements and most importantly help me with spreading the news about this website. I really need a boost! Thanks all!

I kept on reading you guys on how to do it, how not to do it. On January I started with thinkpython, learn python the hard way, mit course on programming, and every other python material I found. You just need to find the best resourse for YOU. I did Udacity's CS253 course, got my certificate and made my MVP! If your one of those guys like me, just get your ideas out there and the project will push you forward. Farm management software in South America is broken. We still have cd and downloadable updates. Hi HN, I'm the CEO at https://replay.io. We've been working on time travel debugging for web development for a while (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28539247) and more recently an AI app builder that uses that debugger to get past problems instead of spinning in circles (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43258585). We've gotten to where we can pretty easily build apps to replace business-critical SaaS tools, some of which we're now using internally: * We built our own issue tracker to keep track of all our development projects, tickets, bug…
