Hey everyone, I have updated my fuzzy search library for the frontend. It now supports substring and prefix search, on top of fuzzy matching. It's fast, accurate, multilingual and has zero dependencies. I became frustrated with the unpredictible/poor match quality and opaqueness of "relevance scores" in existing fuzzy and fulltext search libs, so I tried something different and this is the result. The main selling point is the result quality / ordering, with best-in-class memory overhead and excellent performance being bonuses.     Hi HN! This started late last year as an afternoon project to play around with ElasticSearch, and then I kept thinking of new features I wanted to add. I still have a lot of things I want to build, but now seemed like a good time to put it out there: even if the results aren’t nearly the quality I’d like, I’ve still found it useful and I want to show it off! I’ve been working on it since September 2021, but only in fits and starts.     Hi all, I've made a javascript library to simplify searching/sorting/filtering in arrays of objects. Its inspired by both GraphQL and SQL, but implemented using javascript Proxies.     I used chatgpt to implement interactive fuzzy search over emacs buffers. It's not perfect but you can see how powerful the automation is with curation. I spent less than five minutes on this. I am a beginner in emacs lisp. I am familiar with emacs and with search engine design but I am not an expert in either. I would not be able to write this code on my own without consulting a manual and fiddling with it for hours.

    In an effort to understand it, I put together a simple, pure python implementation of HNSW, an approximate nearest neighbor library. Learned a lot, and I think for anyone interested in vector search it's an exercise that's absolutely worth doing. The code is optimized (imo) for readability, and working (albeit, quite slowly) on putting together a tutorial that walks through the motivation and implementation of HNSW.
