Zero-cost contact forms

got tired of paying $29–99/month for simple contact forms on landing pages and side projects (Typeform, Tally, etc.).So I built GitForms: an open-source contact form that stores submissions as GitHub Issues. How it works:Form runs on your Next.js 14 site (Tailwind + TypeScript) On submit → creates a new Issue in your repo via GitHub API You get instant email notifications from GitHub (free) Zero ongoing costs:No database, no backend servers Deploy on Vercel/Netlify free tier in minutes Configurable via JSON (themes, text, multi-language) Perfect for MVPs, landing pages, portfolios,…

00's called, they want their RSS feeds back. I was looking at my growing Github gist collection when a sudden urge to blog and make a name for myself "by not programming" struck. Part way into implementing my oh so special static website generator it occurred to me that, quite frankly, Github gists is a pretty decent publishing platform. I mean, it gives you reasonably extended markdown with previews, heck I could even write in org-mode, has comments, follower - followee relationship, extended search with filters, check out locally and push your edits. Did someone say "edit button"? Thus the…

Spent the last month building Fertit - basically a newsletter manager but you bring your own SMTP and skip the DevOps nightmare. All the features (subscriber management, admin dashboard, custom preferences) without the infrastructure markup. The math that broke me: Mailchimp: $230/month for 15k contacts My solution: $10/month infrastructure + $10 SendGrid = unlimited What I learned: The "enterprise" features are mostly database operations with SMTP APIs. But the 3 weeks of Go/PostgreSQL/Redis setup explains why people just pay ConvertKit $300/month. Here's the thing:…

Hey HN, I posted GitClassic here 2 months ago- since then I've rebuilt most of it based on what people asked for. https://gitclassic.com What's new: Issues, PRs w/ full diffs, repo intelligence (health scores, dependency graphs), trending/explore, bookmarks, comparison tool, and advanced search. Every page is server-rendered HTML- No React, no SPA, no client bundle, pages under 14KB(gzipped). Try loading facebook/react and compare it to GitHub load times. Public repos work without an account, Pro adds private repo access via GitHub OAuth. Stack: Hono on Lambda,…

My friend Amir and I made Gitdash, a quick little app for Github collaborators to communicate better. It's pretty easy - you just log into Github and it'll automatically generate mailing lists for all of your repos. Please check it out, feedback welcome! http://gitdash.com

Howdy friends! Tell me if this is an atrociously terrible idea - I've been working on building a leetcode for clientside devs so we can practice React and Javascript interview questions in a more concise way, I call it clientside.dev I just finished a beta version of it yesterday and plan on releasing it with many more problems on Jan 1st but it's there if you wanna play with it open to any ideas / feedback however mean or nice it may be :)

Really, that's it: an open source and self-hostable alternative to Vercel, Render, Netlify, Laravel Cloud and the likes. Obviously simpler, but it should handle the basics pretty well: - Git-based deployments: Push to deploy from GitHub with zero-downtime rollouts and instant rollback. - Multi-language support: Python, Node.js (beta), PHP (soon)... basically anything that can run on Docker. - Environment management: Multiple environments with branch mapping and encrypted environment variables. - Real-time monitoring: Live and searchable build and runtime logs. - Team collaboration:…
