I've always wanted a better way to explore the authorship data embedded in a Git commit log. I'm having fun building a CLI tool to do this. It's a bit like the "Contributors" tab on Github that shows you how many commits each contributor has made but much faster and with many more options. What works now: user signups, org creations, private/public repos, and importing GitHub repositories (both as read-only mirrors and full migrations). So basically, you can create, push and pull to a repo, but we don't have many features quite yet (issues, PRs, CI). What is a bit unique is: 1) we built it in Rust and 2) the website is a little odd. Creator here. I was looking for something as simple as Backblaze Personal [1] but privacy focused and open source. This is my attempt to build that. Uses PyQt6 [2] for the GUI and Pyinstaller [3] for creating the platform specific binaries. The backup engine under the hood is Restic [4]. The server code is written in Laravel [5]. The other day I was on github assisting a compiler developer replicate an accidentally-quadratic observed behavior in generated code and was asked if I was willing to privately share my full source code with his company. I authenticate to many Git hosts from many machines and got tired of generating and copying personal access tokens. With credential helper git-credential-oauth, there are no personal access tokens or SSH keys to configure. Instead you authenticate in browser using OAuth. Git Credential Manager (included with Git for Windows) has a similar feature but it's awkward for Linux users to install. git-credential-oauth is cross platform and packaged in many Linux distributions.
