Kiyeovo is a decentralized, end-to-end encrypted messenger. It requires no accounts, no email, no central servers. Peers find each other and talk directly over libp2p. kad-DHT stores messages for offline peers and handles finding other users by their username/peerID. Hey HN! I just released weron, a P2P VPN that uses WebRTC for transport which I've been working on for the last couple of months. It can create both layer 2/Ethernet and layer 3/IP overlay networks, and the underlying transport layer can be easily embedded to write your own P2P apps with Go. Compared to for example Tailscale, WireGuard and ZeroTier, its much harder to block on a network level and also significantly easier to set up, while not sacrifing much performance. A little while back I remember seeing a user on a certain anonymous imageboard asking for an invite to a selective email host. Only after a few minutes did the guy realize the perplexity of the situation. How do you insure against a race condition in a public forum with no way to direct message? Luckily, he nabbed the invite code, but it got me thinking about using PGP to provide a solution. Hi HN, I built a location-based chatroom with Discord-like servers. This started as a portfolio project to learn WebSockets but has spiraled into something else entirely. There are two features right now: Drop - Single chatrooms that can only be seen within a specified radius and only last for a time less than 48 hours chosen by the user.
