24 alternatives to Goqite, a persistent message queue Go library built on SQLite
I wanted to build a persistent message queue based on SQLite, because that's what I'm using for my main state anyway. This gives me ACID across state and messaging, which is nice! I've been inspired by the terminology of AWS SQS for this, but it's obviously much simpler. Maybe you can use it too. :)
Goqite is a Go library that provides a persistent message queue built on SQLite. It enables developers to store messages and application state in the same database, ensuring ACID consistency across both. The library… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi! I wanted to share an open source API-compatible replacement for SQS. It's written in Go, distributes as a single binary, and uses SQLite for underlying storage. I wrote this because I wanted a queue with all the bells and whistles - searching, scheduling into the future, observability, and rate limiting - all the things that many modern task queue systems have. But I didn't want to rewrite my app, which was already using SQS. And I was frustrated that many of the best solutions out there (BullMQ, Oban, Sidekiq) were language-specific. So I made an SQS-compatible replacement. All you have…

Recently created a minimal persistent relational database in Go. Main focus was on implementing & understanding working the of database, storage management & transaction handling. Use of B+ Tree for storage engine(support for indexing), managing a Free List (for reusing nodes), Support for transactions, Concurrent Reads. Still have many things to add & fix like query processing being one of the main & fixing some bugs Repo link - https://github.com/Sahilb315/AtomixDB Would love to hear your thoughts

Hello HN! I'm building mvsqlite, a distributed variant of SQLite with MVCC transactions, that runs on FoundationDB. It is a drop-in replacement that just needs an `LD_PRELOAD` for existing applications using SQLite. I made this because Blueboat (https://github.com/losfair/blueboat) needs a native SQL interface to persistent data. Apparently, just providing a transactional key-value store isn’t enough - it is more easy and efficient to build complex business logic on an SQL database, and it seems necessary to bring a self-hostable distributed SQL DB onto the platform.…

https://github.com/ncruces/go-sqlite3 was doing poorly on this benchmark that was posted yesterday to HackerNews [1]. With the help of some pprof, I was able to trace it to a serious performance regression introduced two weeks ago, and come up with the fix (happy to field questions, if you're interested in the nitty gritty). It's not the fastest driver around, but it's no longer the slowest: comfortably middle of the pack. It's based on a WASM build of SQLite, and thanks to https://wazero.io doesn't need CGO. [1]:…

SQLite encryption at-rest is a hot requested feature of both the “default” CGo driver [1] and the transpiled alternative driver [2]. So, this is a feature I wanted to bring to my own Wasm based Go driver/bindings [3]. Open-source SQLite encryption extensions have had a troubled last few years. For whatever reason, in 2020 the (undocumented) feature that made it easy to offer page-level encryption was removed [4]. Some solutions are stuck with SQLite 3.31.1, but Ulrich Telle stepped up with a VFS approach [5]. Still, their solution seemed harder than something I'd want to maintain, as it…

We built Gonzo to make log analysis faster and friendlier in the terminal. Think of it like k9s for logs — a TUI that can ingest JSON, text, or OpenTelemetry (OTLP) logs, highlight and boil up patterns, and even run AI models locally or via API to summarize logs. We’re still iterating, so ideas and contributions are welcome!

I've always been curious about how SQL engines actually work. So I built a minimum viable SQL engine in Go. - Supports CSV files as tables - Supports SELECT, FROM, WHERE, LIMIT It's very simple: 1. Parses query string 2. Converts it into an AST representation 3. Executes the query against the CSV 4. Returns the results

Hello, everyone. Three months ago, I started building my first GoLang package, VarMQ. In this short period, I gained a significant amount of traction from the community, and it resulted in over 140 stars on GitHub. A week ago, to check how it performs, I ran benchmarks with a similar package, Pond, which has been managed for years. Pond is not a message queue, though; however, it can be compared to VarmQ since it shares some similarities, except for its storage system. From the benchmarks, I got surprising results, which are that Varmq is taking 50%+ less memory than Pond and also has good…

Hi all, we recently open sourced the first version of Hashquery, a Python library which lets you model analytics, DRY up common logic, and execute it against a database or warehouse. We were originally rendering SQL directly for all our queries, but that spiraled out of control with more complex analysis; the SQL needed to be changed sporadically for each new database dialect (BigQuery, Redshift, Aethena, Postgres, etc etc) and the SQL fragments were very challenging to reuse (and so fragments were copy-pasted all over). ~~~ Advantages we think it has over writing SQL by hand: - Queries are…

Hi HN! During the last few years, I worked on a few applications built with Go, running on AWS Lambda. As I got to know the platform better, I started to find Go & Lambda to be a really productive combination. The applications were fast, and they ended up being much cheaper to run than what my team & I had built before. It’s probably not the best platform for _every_ application, but I was surprised at how much of our workload worked well on it. As we brought new engineers on to our team and helped them get up to speed with the stack, I found that we were covering a lot of the same topics…

Setting up Kafka or such enterprise oriented software with their clusters or dedicated servers is heavy and bothering enough that most small teams or indie hackers skip it entirely and making compromise to use in-memory queues. I wanted something in between: a persistent queue that is simple to run (one binary, which makes one sqlite db), gets real fault isolation and crash recovery due to Elixir, easy to inspect (open ezra.db in any SQLite browser and see every task), and requires no new client library - it speaks the Redis Streams wire protocol, so any Redis client in any language just…
