But on HN Simulator, all of the comments are generated by LLMs + generate instantly. I wrote this small client to read hackernews from my favorite editor. It's currently using an external HTTP API [0] but I'm working on my own proxy [1]. I'd love to actually scrape and cache all the info I need using lisp. However, my time constraints are keeping me away of that goal. The initial version was a very basic prototype which was not available anywhere beyond the GitHub repo. You had to install it as a userscript or load the extension manually. Any suggestions are appreciated, stack utilizes Gluestack UI ,Expo, React Native, and Cloudflare Pages. There is a known bug via touch scroll ability on Android, external keyboard's spacebar or mouse works correctly though, currently. If you know about a solution, let me know. Please note, this is just a prototype, it still has a lot of features to be included. I'd like to learn more about how people use HN and how Hacked could help, where other HN clients failed.

I put this together since I find myself switching away from the terminal to see if anything new popped up in HN. There might be similar ones out there, didn't bother looking. It was a quick experiment, which might end up with a few more features.

I forked pajecawav's better-hn repo, which turned out to be an excellent foundation to build on. While the original implementation was clean and functional, it didn't quite capture the essence of Hackernews. More importantly, it was missing some features I considered essential for a truly viable alternative. After tinkering with it for a while, I think I've nailed it—at least for my own use case. I made a HN client that allows you to explore comments in a breadth-first manner. Compared to the classic depth-first approach, it works much better for the larger threads - you don't lose the context and can easily skip discussions you're not interested in.
