After several years of managing and extending Kubernetes at a unicorn, I realised that I desperately needed a change. Hi Everyone! Kubetail is a general-purpose logging dashboard for Kubernetes, optimized for tailing logs across multi-container workloads in real-time. With Kubetail, you can view logs from all the containers in a workload (e.g. Deployment or DaemonSet) merged into a single chronological timeline, delivered to your browser or terminal. A large part of our (Real Kinetic's) business is helping organizations implement platform engineering, but we've found the existing tooling to be lacking. For IaC, Terraform state becomes a pain because TF treats infrastructure as "one-shot" commands. The Kubernetes controller model provides a nicer approach to managing infrastructure, but the tooling here is also lacking. For configuration management, Helm just doesn't really scale with complexity, nor does Kustomize. Since there’s a few discussions recently on $4 VPSes we thought you might be interested in Symbiosis, a cheaper and simpler managed k8s provider. Supported features include external LBs, encrypted+replicated storage and autoscaler. Infrastructure can be managed with UI, CLI, Terraform or Pulumi. Control planes are free of charge and a 1vCPU/2GB node goes for $6 per month. We’re live in Germany right now and we’re expanding into US during 2023. Feel free to try it out and leave a comment.

This is the newest update to my CLI tool to quickly create cheap Kubernetes clusters in Hetzner Cloud. This update adds autoscaling support, so clusters created with this tool now can behave similar to managed Kubernetes clusters, which I think is awesome.
