Hey HN! We recently launched a new capability to Hasura GraphQL Engine: Streaming Subscriptions for Postgres. Today we have a variety of solutions to ingest and store a large amount of data or a stream of data. However, once this data has been captured, securely exposing this data as a continuous stream to a large number of HTTP clients concurrently is a challenge. These are the challenges that Hasura aims to address: 1. Allow for Authorization rules so that clients can only consume the subset of the stream they have access to 2. Prevent missing events and allow each client to move through…

After many months of hard work, trying to understand the challenges and issues around AI and data, we’re excited to be able to share PromptQL (https://promptql.hasura.io), a new tool to build assistants to talk to your data. Yo. OtterTune is a database optimization service. It uses machine learning to automatically tune your MySQL and Postgres configuration (i.e., RDS parameter groups) to improve performance and reduce costs. It does this by only looking at your database's runtime metrics (e.g., INNODB_METRICS, pg_stat_database, CloudWatch). We don't need to examine sensitive queries or user tables. We spun this project out of my research group at Carnegie Mellon University in 2020. This week we've announced that OtterTune is now available to the public. We are offering everyone a starter account to try it out…

We just released a small open-source tool which enables you to fire HTTP requests from Postgres triggers. One of the things we’re using it for now is to send Slack messages when a new user is created and wanted to see what the community thinks as we explore more use cases!
