Products that do what Hodor – a 701KB native macOS prompt launcher for AI tools does

Hodor is a tiny macOS app that launches saved AI prompts into any text field — from the screen edge, keyboard shortcut, or keyword such as ;git. I work with different AI tools every day, and had prompts scattered across Raycast snippets, Apple Notes, and Notion — notes that kept getting longer and unmanageable. Raycast snippets are useful, but cumbersome to browse and edit. I wanted one local place to save and review them, and one click to paste them into whatever AI tool I'm using. The test I set was whether I could actually stop using Raycast snippets for this. I think I fulfilled my goal.…

Hey HN! I wanted to share this OSS project I've been working on. It's called Yap and its a small menu-bar app for macOS that does voice to text for any input. You'll set a hotkey, press it, talk, press it again, and the text gets pasted into whatever field you were in. Everything runs locally and never leaves your computer. Fully OSS and MIT licensed. With macOS 26, Apple recently added two new APIs, SpeechAnalyzer and SpeechTranscriber, that do streaming on-device speech to text using models the OS ships and manages. So the app ships no model of its own and loads nothing before the first…

Hi HN! We’re Akilan and Miguel, the creators of MarbleOS. The inspiration for Marble comes from the GUI work at Xerox PARC, the 1984 Macintosh, and later NeXTSTEP, which became the foundation for Mac OS X. Before GUIs, interacting with a computer was limited to strange terminal commands: C:\> DIR C:\> COPY FILE.TXT A: You had to remember the command, syntax, paths, and parameters. The GUI made those capabilities visible. Instead of remembering commands, you could point at files, drag them, click buttons, and select actions from menus. It didn't necessarily make entirely new things possible;…
