Hi HN! I built a proof of concept 'newspaper' that creates short news articles of today's current events with GPT. This is a very rough proof of concept but I can't help but think this concept is the future. I think we'll all have AI daily newspapers in whatever theme we want, covering any amount of information we want, with the ability to expand or contract article length instantly. HN, With an overwhelming amount of tech news being reported every day - I have always struggled to find the time to read the articles, even when I want to. So I created a solution for myself where I extract key points of the articles and present them as bullet points, for readability. I built this app because I really enjoyed "Pulse" but I felt it lacked a few things. I wanted a web-based version, I wanted my news articles grouped together by topic, and I wanted an easy way to share with other people. A year and a half after I published https://HackYourNews.com, I've rewritten it to be neater and added support for more news sources. HackYourNews.com v1 had a great response on HN [1] and consistently sees ~2k weekly unique visitors. There were many long-standing requests that I wanted to fulfill (thanks for your patience!): a proper dark mode, correct rendering on mobile devices, and more cogent summaries. I was inspired by Nothing Forever to make something while it's off air - Channel 784. It's a parody of evening news. How it works: I have a Node server that generates headlines, then expands each one and creates an intro and outro based on them, and then passes the headlines to DALL-E to generate pictures for each story and the stories to Google Cloud to generate speech. Then I save that as a JSON and load it into Unreal Engine. I'm not sure it's as funny as Nothing Forever, it's a bit more structured. If anyone's got any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I was curious what AI generated news would look like. The Synthetic Standard finds real news and then generatively writes articles as well as images. One of my favorite things so far has been the images: often times they are hilarious depictions similar to a political cartoon.

I struggle with wanting to read heaps of stuff I come across on the internet daily, as well as being subscribed to a bunch of tech-related newsletters that I never get around to reading. I made this to get through that content much faster while working or otherwise multitasking. Check it out and please lmk your thoughts! Also, curious if others also feel this pain of too much interesting content to get through daily. FWIW I probably listen to this for >1 hour daily atm.
