Products that do what I built a tool to stop cold email spam (Unspam.io) does
Hi HN! I'm Louw, founder of the enterprise insurtech scale-up Root[0]. Over the last 8 years, my inbox has been flooded with unsolicited emails, especially since early 2023. Recruitment services, outsourced software development agencies, and a crazy amount of lead generation services (thanks, Apollo!) drowned my inbox. To solve this, I created Unspam. Initially, it was a simple tool for myself and fellow founders to reduce noise. And it worked — about 10% of my emails were swiftly and accurately categorized as unsolicited messages. Given its success, I've decided to package and share Unspam…

Hi HN :) really excited to share this with you. The one thing AI reliably does is generate noise. Half the tools I see launch are just machines for producing more noise across more channels. And people are starting to see this in the form of emails in their inboxes as spam filters are struggling. There used to be a useful signal in email: the effort a sender put into customizing a message was a rough proxy for how relevant it actually was. AI killed that. Now it's customized slop with the appearance of effort with none of the cost. It is painful that the open internet / open channels…

Hey HN, I’m a solopreneur and have been in the SaaS space for the past 3 years. My last 3 startups failed, and a common challenge in all of them was figuring out how to reach my audience. Recently I started with cold outreach (its a struggle, since I dont have much experience with marketing). I am finding leads mainly using exa.ai websets (web vector search, extremelly good for multiple use cases, recommend checking them out) and then sending them through smartlead. I ran the campaign for the past 30 days and 12-15% emails always bounced. This wasted my email credits & chances of reaching…

After struggling with low open rates in my small lifestyle software business, I decided to go down the rabbit hole that is email deliverability, learned a bunch of things I didn't know even after being in tech for a decade. A/B tested a bunch of things and finally got good results. I then decided to put together a comprehensive checklist of everything I learned and got me results to share with others. Now I help companies fix poor email deliverability and boost their email ROI. I want this checklist to be a repository of email best practices so I'm always looking to improve and update…

Hi HN, I'm excited to share a project I've been working on: UnwrapEmail(https://unwrap.email), an API designed to detect and verify disposable or temporary email addresses. Features: - Detect disposable email addresses - Extract labels from email addresses (e.g., Gmail) - Normalize addresses by removing labels or special characters (e.g., Gmail) - Validate MX records of domains - Check whether it’s safe to send to a given email to reduce bounces and maintain sender reputation Why I Built This: As the owner of an AI wrapper app, I've seen decent traffic thanks to SEO efforts + ads,…

Hi Guys, I'm Spencer and recently built AutoUnsubscribe to keep on top of my email subscriptions. The basic idea is: Automatically unsubscribe from unwanted emails that you never open, so you can focus on the emails that matter, saving yourself time and effort. I find overtime I accumulate hundreds of email subscriptions accidentally, especially when I ran an ecommerce business where our emails seemed to end up on all our suppliers, and their suppliers mailing lists. Some people stay on top of unsubscribing easily, however it's something I've always struggled with, especially having ADHD. I…

You use Twitter, Facebook as well as email to communicate with your customers? With all these different services, it has become very hard to manage and keep track of all the conversations happening. My co-founder and I noticed this some months ago and asked people how they would like to handle this. And so we have come up with a new solution. We launched into public beta about two weeks ago. The problem was: We had a very hard time explaining to people how we help them and why that's relevant. We were too technical and nobody really understood exactly what it was that we did. So we took a…

Hi everyone. Over the weekend, I built a tool for finding contacts using AI. Here's the backstory. My partner and I are working on an agrotech startup – we’re building telematics for agricultural machinery. Most of our sales come through cold outreach: you search for contacts, message them, call, make deals and so on We also do indiehacking, because agrotech is slow and a sometimes boring. At some point, we got tired of manually collecting contacts from the internet, so we built a AI tool for that. It turned out to be super helpful, and we decided to share it with the world. If anyone here…

Hey HN, I was tired of writing HTML emails and one day was going through reddit specifically searching for people who hated writing HTML emails and heard a lot of complaints from solopreneurs and marketers as this is a very boring task and many marketers and solo founders have much more important tasks to take care off. So I decided to build HTML email to solve this. My friends have already saved hours using this product. This is my 11th product and I think this solves a problem many folks are struggling with. Feel free to share your views.

So I just did my semi-annual "log in to Twitter to see if it's any good yet", and found that in my absence I had followed a few thousand new spam accounts. Sweet. That explains why they emailed me and forced me to change my password last year. Being Awesome, Twitter doesn't have any way to simply toss out all your followers and start from scratch. And none of the spammy apps claiming to do so actually will (even seemingly after charging you money to try). So instead, I just pulled open the Dev console and did this:…

I just shipped something I’ve needed for years - a more efficient email client. I finally built Omnia OS because my inbox turned into a landfill of AI-generated noise. If you're going to email me going forward, I suggest including a more compelling subject and opening line, otherwise all emails from unknown people will not make it to my inbox. AI draft-suggestion tools never solved the real problem: finding the messages, files, or company I actually need to follow up with. After securing AI systems for a living, I know how easy it is to weaponize prompt injection, so bolting AI onto email…

Doing my best to make email fun. If your boss asks why you didn't get back to them explain you accidentally used the spam bomb on their emails.

Capturing emails always sucked. I don't want to add a full-blown newsletter API. That's why I've created my own tool. Would love your feedback on this
