Hello HN, I built DuLink to solve a personal problem: my primary language is English, but my mother’s primary language is Mandarin Chinese. I often find articles on health or current events that I want to share with her, but the friction of copy/pasting and Google Translate meant she rarely read them. What it does: DuLink takes an article URL, extracts the core content to strip out clutter, and then generates a static, translated reading view. My partner usually writes substack posts which I then mirror to our website’s blog section. To automate this, I made a simple tool to scrape the post and clean it so that I can drop it to our blog easily. This might be useful to others as well. Oh and ofcourse you can instruct GPT to make any final edits :D

I built this tool because I wanted a way to just take a bunch of URLs or domains, and query their content in RAG applications. It takes away the pain of crawling, extracting content, chunking, vectorizing, and updating periodically. I'm curious to see if it can be useful to others. I meant to launch this six months ago but life got in the way...

I recently observed that majority of my family members and friends are not using ad blockers and reader mode for reasons suck as lack of knowledge about plugins & laziness. So their online reading experience is not pleasant as a result very less amount of them read anything including what i share. Its an attempt to give them clutter, tracker & ad free reading experience right off the bat.

Hi When you are learning a new language, you need to practice different skills: reading, listening, speaking, writing. I find writing to be the hardest activity, not least because I have to look up words in the dictionary all the time, and that is a frustrating context switch. Here is an experimental CodeMirror-based editor, that lets you look up translations inline. Paywalls are annoying in daily browsing (more in the weekends and mornings!). https://archive.is/ is great but one thing I noticed is that not play nicely with content extraction services such as https://getpocket.com/ and I think it is more about Pocket recognizing the Archive Today service than other thing. Google Translate is an alternative that currently works with content readers. Basically the hack is to just not use the translation at all putting the same language in the language origin and destination.

Hey HN, I built an alternative to Google translate that's fast, accurate, and 1/30th the price. 20+ supported languages, not billed until 100k tokens, and already used thousands of times with real language learning users. The landing page has a demo for you to test performance yourself for free with no card required. (Also landing page says 1/13 the price because had to account for all 3 big names, with varying prices each).
