14 years ago, I launched my original version of TicketData via a Show HN. While the public site didn't get traction, the data proved valuable to those in the ticketing industry, and it became a B2B data product that's kept me busy ever since. I'm now relaunching the front-end site as a totally free and public tool for anyone to make smarter decisions when buying tickets for live events. I wanted to see how difficult it would be to build a web app using a sub-$300 android smartphone. Decided to build a fun predictions website where you could bet virtual (not real) money on predictions made by others, and also make predictions of your own. Is anyone having a big wedding reception/event with assigned seating soon? Or know anyone who will? I've been working on a tool to optimize seating charts for assigned seat events, such as weddings. So, this summer I was hunting for a flight from Calgary to Tokyo with WestJet, and I kept seeing these random cheaper flights popping up. I got tired of refreshing the site non-stop, so I whipped up a script to scrape the flight data. It paid off—I scored a roundtrip for $1000 CAD in July!
