Hi, I’m Kenny, I’ve been building aislop. I starting working on this after using Claude Code, codex and opencode several times and noticing some slops. They aren’t syntax and passes most tests, they are patterns like empty catch blocks, useless comments, duplicated helpers, dead code and many more. So I built a tool to scan and check for these patterns and wired it into hooks so after each tool call, the agent checks for the slops. You can try it out with npx aislop scan. Hi HN, Lately Github PRs have been drowning in a flood of AI slop. I’ve been seeing it myself, and I’m not the only one: https://x.com/mitchellh/status/2011819428061855915 I think it’s great that folks are using AI tools to code faster and better, but too many folks are abusing them to make low-quality contributions to public repos. I’ve been building a crowd-sourced AI detection benchmark. Two responses to the same prompt — one from a real human (pre-2022, provably pre prevalence of AI slop on the internet), one generated by AI. You pick the slop. Three wrong and you’re out. I'm so tired of all that crappy AI content that is published every day. It's becoming way harder to find genuine creators on the internet because they are being overshadowed with massive amount of AI-driven material. I think I'm not the only one who thinks like that and that is why I've published "Is Generated" it's a community based Chrome Extensions where users can report, vote and block the content they suspect is AI-generated. A few days ago I saw a comment on reddit which proposed a service that allowed the user to spam a website's server logs with messages objecting to the presence of various anti-features like popups, noisy ads, and autoplaying content. The idea tickled my fancy, so I've put together a Chrome extension which detects if a page is using Google Analytics, and if so it injects a small script which sends bunk utm (urchin tracking module) data to the GA backend. Design slop is the feeling that tells you a website is purely AI-generated. This is an attempt to classify the design patterns behind it.
