Last week we saw a post on HN, mentioning Google Playstore now accepts PWA apps. We thought this could be automated, so non-devs can easily create and upload APK’s of their PWAs. Last week I decided to have a go at building a location based app, using native APIs for both android and iphone, but using a webview to display the content. This is a side project I made with the help of JQuery Mobile and PhoneGap. Design (1 week) Actual coding was about (2 weeks) Release to apple roller-coaster ride (1 week) Content came from my business partner. I was so worried Apple would reject the application because it's 90% javascript, but to my surprise it passed with flying colors! I ended up rewriting the app a few times because jquery mobile was so slow. I wrote it again using Zepto but it wasn't any faster. Hi! I've been building this app over the course of the last year or so, and we've finally gotten it polished and cleaned up to the point where we feel pretty good about it. The goal of this app is to replace the lists that people keep of all the places they want to go, movies they've had friends mention, and books they want to read. I'm sure I'm not the only iOS developer who has torn out my hair dealing with provisioning profiles. Manually managing them in the iPhoneOS 2.x, 3.x days or Xcode's "automatic" management have always been painful, especially when doing contract development for multiple clients.
