I’ve been building Canine for about 2 years now, and have slowly grown it to about ~1000 developers using it for deploying all sorts of apps / projects / etc. Amazingly, the whole thing is still able to run on a single 48GB Hetzner VPS. Think of it basically like Coolify, for Kubernetes. I do maintain big OSS projects and and try to contribute as well. However contribution experience can very bad, if you follow the path of picking the most famous objects. Good luck contributing to Node, Rust, Shadcn and etc - they do not need your contribution, their PR queue is overloaded and they can't handle it. Plus you need to get to their internal circles first, though quite complex process. The world is much bigger. There are so many help required from the smaller but still active projects. Hi HN, I built mcp-tidy to solve a problem I kept running into with Claude Code. As I tried different MCP servers over the past few months, my ~/.claude.json accumulated servers I'd forgotten about. Claude Code loads all tool descriptions (built-in + MCP) into context, so unused servers add overhead you don't need. Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP) has made it easy to spin up servers that expose tools and data to LLMs. A lot of these MCP servers run locally because they need access to your files, shell, browser, etc. The problem: they typically run with the same privileges as your user.
