24 alternatives to I reverse engineered X to Read Threads without Any Account as Articles

Hi fellow hackers, I'm Ved, I came across the pain point of having a reader that could provide threads as articles after scrolling them many times and missing the context of the original info shared. To solve my itch I decided to build a thread reader without Ads(all existing sol. were full of them), since X/Twitter API was very pricey, I did some reverse engineering to convert rendered X.com/twitter pages to an API and host it in a VM (which obv. was dead cheap). All of your data is saved in LocalStorage. Including your comments and saved threads(there is a known issue with Linux…

This tool converts X/Twitter threads into readable article format without requiring an account or API subscription. Built by reverse-engineering X.com's rendering system, it lets users read and save threads while… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Repo: https://github.com/nnnkit/totem Bookmarking a tweet/article/thread on X is one click, but actually reading it later is like five clicks — open X, dig into history, bookmarks, find the post, and dodge the distraction of new feeds and notifications on the way there. So I had hundreds of genuinely great tweets saved and basically never read any of them. Totem puts that queue on the browser new tab, so reading them is just one click away. No feed distraction, no algorithm, no AI, no server, no account — it's all local. In one sentence "It's like the reading…

Recently i stumbled on too many clickgates on the Medium blog Towards Data science. Considering that most people publish to share knowledge on Medium and are driven into putting their content behind a paywall, without actually getting paid for it, including myself. I felt like Medium is running the academic publishing scheme. Get free content and get paid for it. So I decided to create a small script to bypass the paywall on Medium, it turns out it also works on other newssites. Heres the website: https://sugoidesune.github.io/readium/ For the curious I will explain the…

I love Hacker News but I rarely have time to read full articles / comments, so I built a simple site to summarize the top posts & comments to make it easier to get a big picture. A few implementation details: - It pulls the top stories from the HN Firebase API (`/v0/topstories`) - Filters stories with >200 points - Uses Claude Sonnet for post + comment summaries - Tries to capture the sentiment of the comments (still working on improving this) - Refreshes both posts + summaries hourly It has already helped me I hope it helps you! Please let me know if you have any feedback --…

I've been working on creating threaded blog posts using RSS feeds. Something similar to Twitter but kind of worse and better in its own way. I had an idea that if users are allowed to embed the threads to their posts, it acts like a simple comment section. Try it out, no accounts required.

I just built XYMake (https://xymake.com), a tool that lets you convert any X (Twitter) thread into clean markdown, making your conversations accessible for LLMs, MCPs, or any API. ## What it does: - Transforms any X thread URL into markdown by simply changing "x.com" to "xymake.com" in the URL - OAuth2 login to "free your data" and make your threads available - Auto-generates OG images with token counts and participant info for easy sharing - Serves different content types based on whether the request is from a crawler, browser, or agent ## Why I built it: I believe people should…

Hey HN! I'm excited to share a tool I've been working on - a native Hacker News reader built with Rust and egui. Here's a screenshot: https://github.com/haojiang99/hacker_news_reader/blob/main/s.... As a daily HN reader, I've always struggled with keeping track of interesting posts I want to read later. Browser tabs pile up, bookmarks get forgotten, and I lose track of what I've already read. I needed a way to: 1. Browse HN efficiently (across all sections - hot, new, show, ask, jobs, best) 2. Quickly mark posts as "todo" for later reading 3. Mark posts as…

Lately I've felt exhausted due to the deluge of AI/GPT posts on hacker news, and have seen similar grumblings. I threw together this frontend that filters out anything with the phrases AI, LLM, GPT, or LLaMa for use until the hype dies down a bit. Before anyone asks, yes I did try to use ChatGPT to help, and while the code it provided was helpful, it needed some heavy bug-fixing. Edit: One other note I forgot to mention. The favicon is generated by Stable Diffusion, I asked it to generate an "Aritificial Intelligence Favicon", and then I added the red circle with line through it.
