Free comments section for personal sites
I've been working on creating threaded blog posts using RSS feeds. Something similar to Twitter but kind of worse and better in its own way. I had an idea that if users are allowed to embed the threads to their posts, it acts like a simple comment section. Try it out, no accounts required.
Free comments section for personal sites launched on March 4, 2024 with 43 votes, #1,033 of 4,270 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.
In plain words
Free comments section for personal sites enables blog owners to add threaded discussions to their posts using RSS feeds. The system works like a simplified social network, allowing readers to comment and reply without creating accounts. Users can embed the discussion threads directly into their blog posts, creating a lightweight alternative to traditional comment sections. Built around threaded conversations, it offers a decentralized approach to blog engagement while remaining straightforward to set up and use.

Bhread now provides a comment section for blogs + instructions for how to use it
Bhread now provides a piece of code you can put on your site that will display replies from all of Bhread. This feature will also work if the user doesn’t have JS enabled. In Hugo, find the template or page that’s used for single articles. Paste this piece of code after the content section or anywhere you’d like to display the comments in the page. This will add an iframe element to your posts with 350px height. How it looks like without replies. You can probably also look at this post you’re reading and find the comment section In the future, we aim to add more (and better) instructions for integrating this to other site makers (Wordpress, Jekyll, etc) we also aim…from blog.bhread.com

- YNYou Need Feeds – Introduce friends/family/workmates to RSS and webfeeds2018 · ▲205
Partially inspired by recent discussions on HN and other places. I've made a single-focus site to introduce your friends/colleagues/neighbours/family to RSS and web feeds. https://www.youneedfeeds.com/ The site is meant to give the elevator pitch for feeds, show a newbie what feeds are and how to use them, set them up with a reader, and give them some nice starter content if they want it. So much tastemaking and newsmaking power is concentrated in the hands of Facebook/Reddit/Twitter, but I'm convinced it's because much of the general populace doesn't…

A commenting system that works via email2023 · r3ply.com · ▲49Hi everyone, I made a commenting system that accepts submissions via email, instead of requiring a login. The back story is I wanted some interactivity for my site/blog, but I felt like requiring a signup wouldn't be a good UX. I'm looking to get feedback on it from the HN community. Please feel free to ask questions and let me know your thoughts, especially what you don't like about it. If it's a decent UX then I would like to make it OSS, as I feel that it could potentially fill a void, especially for beautiful small websites. Here's the basic flow of data: 1. When the site is…

CommentblocksFeb 2026 · commentblocks.com · ▲101Hey HN, I'm a freelance web developer and got tired of the endless email chains during website QA. Clients would send screenshots with red circles, or worse, Word docs with "the button on the page with the thing." I'd spend more time decoding feedback than actually fixing stuff. So I built Commentblocks. You add a script to your staging site, send clients a link, and they click anywhere on the page to leave a comment. That's it. No signup for them, no explaining how to use it. Each comment captures the exact element, viewport size, browser, and URL. Comments show up in a dashboard or can go…
