Products that do what I think I re-imagined IRC on mobile devices does
I have hosted my own IRC server, for a small community of coders and friends, since 1999. I never really strayed from using mirc or irssi, when I'm on a desktop or have a keyboard. On my iphone, the options were pretty lacking, though. The best true IRC client for iphone is one called IRC999, in my opinion. These clients all bugged me though because when the phone would go idle or shut off the wifi, the client disconnects. Hi, I have published a mobile app to have coffee chat with HN users. There was already a guy who made a website for this, but I wanted to do it in mobile to practice WebRTC(technology behind the audio chat) and have some fun. Hey all, Just wanted to show off this app I built, its a LAN based WebRTC baby monitor that connects any apple devices together over WIFI so you can turn an old iPad or iPhone into a baby monitor! I got a bit sick of all the sketchy products that require you to buy another device and may or may not connect to Chinese servers and store all your information somewhere. So I figured what if there were no servers and we could just use our existing devices! I would love any feedback! You will need two apple devices to test it, but simulators do work.

I made this because I can't stand the slack interface. IRC clients are fast instead of slow, and do not display GIFs and memes automatically (I can still click to open them). I can configure notifications. I can configure it to not mention me when "@here" is typed by certain people or on certain channels. It's just much quieter and easier to handle overall.

Hi guys, I've spent the last 18 months building a restaurant POS app that can run completely and reliably on iOS. Along the way, we've really pushed the devices to their limits and have something special that doesn't rely on the cloud for service, doesn't copy old and crappy "100 buttons on a screen" POS interfaces, and is still just as efficient and much more usable. This is a little project I've been working on for a while in order to better learn Python. Although IRC may not exactly be the most exciting medium, I still find it to be fun and useful, this interest lead me to writing a bot. In doing this I realized that what would actually be more interesting would be if I had a framework. There may already be such a thing, certainly there are IRC libraries, but I don't know if they're well-suited to deploying bots.
