Products that do what my weekend project, a "framework" for IRC apps/bots does
This is a little project I've been working on for a while in order to better learn Python. Although IRC may not exactly be the most exciting medium, I still find it to be fun and useful, this interest lead me to writing a bot. In doing this I realized that what would actually be more interesting would be if I had a framework. I had an idea a couple days ago and I went with it. Basically, the idea was to create an IRC channel to help people find jobs; computer related jobs, in particular. There would be a bot to display job listings. So I started working on a first take on the bot. I decided to use Python because I love the language and I wanted to get more experience with a its libraries. So a while ago I was thinking it would be neat to build a site that had the most absolute utility. The idea I came up with was a site to store those little protips that are super useful, if you know them ahead of time. I hired a guy to work on it with me, and ClueDB was born: http://cluedb.com/ Please give it a whirl (it uses Twitter auth as login but doesn't tweet anything) and tell me what you think! This was more of a sandbox to play with Raphael and Flot than anything else but I think there are some interesting statistics in there. It'd be awesome to do this over time but I really don't have the spare time required.

Hi HN, After watching a lot of Show HN's here, it's finally my turn to show something. This is the first real project I have shipped, so it is extra special to me. I've always dreamed about a project like that when looking at status boards at other companies. We finally had the time to do our own. Hi everyone! BotBot.me is a side project we've been working on for the last few months. BotBot is an IRC bot and logger with a pretty web interface. To be honest, we're not quite sure what direction to take with the project at the moment and would to hear your feedback. Since we use it internally, our roadmap includes sending SMS/email messages to offline users, providing a "what I missed" view and some 3rd party integrations. I kept on reading you guys on how to do it, how not to do it. On January I started with thinkpython, learn python the hard way, mit course on programming, and every other python material I found. You just need to find the best resourse for YOU. I did Udacity's CS253 course, got my certificate and made my MVP! Hi there HN! I wanted to show you a weekend project I put together. Pingquick (https://www.pingquick.dev/) is a way to create APIs from your python functions. Just write/paste the function in, and it'll give you an endpoint to POST to. I made Pingquick because I just couldn't stand having to deal with deployment for some simple python functions.
