So I just did my semi-annual "log in to Twitter to see if it's any good yet", and found that in my absence I had followed a few thousand new spam accounts. Sweet. Hi HN, I created a (realistic) fake tweet generator to make my mum believe I'm successful until I get there for real haha. Now I can proudly (not) show her Elon endorsed my SaaS! It's 100% free to use and I tried to make it as realistic as possible while being easy to use. There are already existing similar tools but I could not find one that automatically pre-fills data from a twitter username and that handles business accounts (square picture/gold badge/company picture) so I built it. I would love to hear your feedback or suggestions!

Lately I've felt exhausted due to the deluge of AI/GPT posts on hacker news, and have seen similar grumblings. I threw together this frontend that filters out anything with the phrases AI, LLM, GPT, or LLaMa for use until the hype dies down a bit. Before anyone asks, yes I did try to use ChatGPT to help, and while the code it provided was helpful, it needed some heavy bug-fixing. Edit: One other note I forgot to mention. The favicon is generated by Stable Diffusion, I asked it to generate an "Aritificial Intelligence Favicon", and then I added the red circle with line through it.

I'm sure you all saw the debate a few days ago, alongside all the tech influencoors giving their mid-takes about politics. Doesn't it get tiring? That's why I built mindfirewall a chrome extension that uses AI to filter out tweets. You'll never have to see politics, war, or negativity on your timeline again. I'm a solo dev. A few years ago, I got addicted to Reddit. Spent months in that loop. Being a programmer, I thought I'd be clever. Redirected Reddit's domain to nowhere in my DNS file. Worked great until I'd just... open the file and undo it 20 minutes later. So I made it irreversible. Locked the DNS file so it can't be edited unless I boot my Mac in safe mode. And if I do that, there's a script that instantly locks it again. Haven't used Reddit since last year. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I just replaced Reddit with Twitch and YouTube. Every user has a unique mix of opinions, some of which I would rather not see on my tl - but simply muting someone is too permanent (twitter does not allow you to see what was the mute reason).
