Hi Hacker News! Shahar and Tal from Keep here. A few months ago, we introduced here at HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34806482) Keep as an “open source alerting CLI” and got some interesting feedback - mainly around UI, automation, and supporting more tools. We were VERY early back then, and we understood that although the current DX around creating alerts is not great, it's not that critical and developers don’t need another tool just for that. But we did find something else. While talking to developers and devops, we found that a lot of companies use many tools…

Hey HN, we’re Nico and Arseniy, co-founders of Superlog (https://superlog.sh). We're building a self-installing, self healing observability tool meant not to be opened. It has a wizard that daily sets up proper logging and an agent that investigates errors and opens PRs. Super short demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFhU9Mk247M. In our earlier startups, we tried Sentry, Datadog, Grafana, Dash0, and nothing was good enough. Proper telemetry and alerting still requires a ton of manual setup. We struggled with adding good logs, so debugging was tough, especially as…

Hey HN! Jaka here, solo founder of Assertly (https://www.assertly.com). Assertly is a monitoring tool for continuous infosec, IT, compliance and DevOps regression testing. It enables teams to automate periodic checks using JavaScript. Before Assertly, I was the CTO of Celtra (https://celtra.com), a B2B SaaS company, for over 10 years, from “git init” to 250 people and the company’s sale to private equity. I was primarily responsible for product strategy, engineering, QA, DevOps, but also for IT and InfoSec. I found that ensuring security, integrity, privacy, and…

Hello HN! Parth, and Shardul here. We have been building unlogged.io for the last 21 months. We started as a time travel debugger and pivoted to record and replay with assertions, mocking, and code coverage. You can save the replays in the form of a JSON and commit them to your git. Both Parth and I come from an e-commerce/payments background where production bugs meant heavy financial losses. Big billion days/Black Friday sales meant months of code freezes with low productivity. Before committing the code, we wanted to replay production traffic and know the breaking changes right…

Hi Hacker News! We're Samrose and Shaeq from Apptrail (https://apptrail.com). We let B2B SaaS companies easily add customer-facing audit trails to their products. It's currently too hard to build and consume SaaS audit logs. Organizations use audit logs to access and monitor the activity coming from their SaaS tools for security and compliance reasons. For example, a security admin at an enterprise company would use Slack audit logs to see messages sent and what devices and IP addresses they were sent from. Many SaaS companies don’t offer audit trails to their customers, which…

I built this after one too many 3 AM wake-ups due to API outages. Existing solutions felt overpriced and overcomplicated for my small-scale needs. Key features: Simple, GitHub-inspired dashboard Free tier: 5-minute checks, email alerts, 30-day retention Premium tier: 1-minute checks, SMS alerts, unlimited retention Significantly more affordable than enterprise solutions Tech stack: Next.js frontend, Node.js backend, MongoDB, Stripe for payments. This is my attempt to solve the "sleep vs. downtime" dilemma for fellow indie hackers. I'd appreciate any feedback or feature suggestions. What's…

Hi, Wanted to share something I've been working on for over a year. AuditBadger is a compliance management platform that uses AI to write policies (there are underlying "templates" with basic requirements), rewrite controls (or trust service criterions) to match the company context, help figure out your own controls, does initial risk assessment, and business continuity planning (which at least gives you an example of how the process should look like). Fun fact - I wanted to share this a year ago, but then I spotted something similar here. The most common comment was about lacking the SOC 2…

Morning HN - - I have a quick story about building a startup and misreading the market, and an ask. (The ask: Try out our product>> https://app.datable.io/auth/sandbox) My name is Julian Giuca and I was an early employee at New Relic, where I led their Logging product until 2022. It’s safe to say I have opinions about logs. Sometimes I think they are great. Too often I think we can do much better. When people talk to me about logs, they reliably complain about observability costs. Engineering leaders have said it feels “like a protection racket”, where you're forced to…

We open-sourced the TLA+ and Fizzbee verified spec behind Ursa's storage engine. Verification across ~200K states caught a design bug that years of production missed. We then handed the spec to Claude Code — it produced a working Rust implementation (concurrent producers, compaction, fencing) without back-and-forth. We think verified specs are the best harness for coding agents: open-source the spec, let anyone implement it.
