Hello, I have been working on a desktop app as a side project for which I needed an installer kit. I looked at some existing ones for different platforms. Felt, it benefits to have a cross platform desktop installer builder which is flexible enough to code your UI and actions (non declarative style). I have also added Github actions (sourced from Tauri) to automatically generate installer files for all macos, win and linux. Here is an effort towards it. Please share your thoughts: https://github.com/krishnakumar4a4/desktop-installer-maker

Seven years in the making (I admit that I did get a kid at some point which slowed down progress and brought it to a halt quite a few times), I decided to finaly release it, with a rather drastic change to the now (I believe) generous licensing model. Unlike current major players in this field, I decided to go with uncrippled, free version for commercial use for corps with up to 1M USD ARR. I poured my heart and soul into this, not because I was looking for financial success, but because I felt it just had to be done, given the price hikes wherever you look today. While my wife and kid were…

Mintlify Pro costs 250 USD per month. We wanted something similar (AI assistant and nice UI), but fully customizable and cheap. So we built GibsonAI docs in 1 day for about 50 USD. How we did it: Used Lovable for UI components + rendering MDX beautifully (Markdown stored in GitHub). Built an AI Agent for docs using Agno + Memori → personalized Q&A and “smart educator.” Stored embeddings in LanceDB and metadata in our SQL DB. Bonus: We can share our reusable design templates and source code so you can deploy on Vercel (or anywhere) and skip Lovable costs. Would love feedback on what features…

Hi HN! I left AWS a few months ago and created CodinIT, a local, open-source AI app builder made with remix + Electron. The motivation: I tried one of the popular cloud-based AI app builders, but when I pulled down the app to run locally, it just didn’t work especially with the monthly costs needed to build something half decent without being limited. So I created CodinIT, an app builder that runs fully on your computer, making it easy to switch between CodinIT and coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code. Hello HN: Here is the link https://apps.apple.com/app/id1579078660 After forgetting to turn off a p2.xlarge instance for a week, I got so mad at myself I learnt swiftUI to build a native macOS console for most of the actions I do on the web AWS console. I didnt want to use electron or other non native frameworks. Most importantly I just wanted it to know how much a certain instance costs right now, no matter its state, its type, its lifecycle(like ondemand or spot) and the costs associated with the EBS volumes attached including their IOPS/throughput and etc. It also…

Hi all, 1995 was a simpler time. There was no react, SSR, component libraries, and developers only had 4MB of RAM to work with. If you ask me, UIs have only gone downhill since then. So I created windows95jobs.com so people can experience the joy of simpler software while looking for a new SWE job. Repo: https://github.com/KyleMoore1/Win95Jobs (Built with react lol)
